Guess location on mobile: how does it work?
I'd like to know how the Guess Location tool work, as for me it seems it never finds a result. In particular, I'd like a quick way to get my location on mobile either using a GPS antenna (integrated or connected via Bluetooth) or using the GSM antenna(s) I am connected to (a less precise result but good enough). See for instance the new Nokia Friend View tool.
I found an answer saying that you were working on the GPS check-ins, but it's over 6 months old: are there news on it?

Inappropriate?Hi Flavio, the Guess My Location feature is for use with a laptop connected to a Wi-Fi network, unfortunately it does not work with mobile phones. We have more information on that here:

Our native iPhone app integrates the 3G's GPS capabilities and also uses cell-tower triangulation for non-3G phones. We have plans to support a number of phones that have GPS, but I cannot give you an ETA for when that will happen.

Has there been any further development on this? Perhaps a symbian developer could write an app so as to use the internal GPS to enable change of location.
I find myself forgetting to change locations as the process via mobile either by SMS or email is cumbersome.
An app with a "I'm here" button would make the process a lot easier and my friends will have a better idea as to where I am! -
Jardry, we still have plans to develop apps for a number of platforms. Our Android app should be ready soon and we just started working on our Windows Mobile app.
We do have a public API, so if there was a symbian developer who wanted to tackle a Brightkite app we would be more than happy to help out in any way we can. :)
