iPhone - Google Maps App & Brightkite App GPS Pinpointing
The Google Maps application on my iPhone is able to pinpoint my location at home to within metres. However Brighkite rarely gets within 2km's or so - I was under the impression Brightkite used Google Maps to "Find Us" and technically the same hardware.
I'm quite aware that it's probably not as simple as I've put it - but it just seems a little silly that Brightkite should have such a big difference in locating me.
In an effort to be able to placemark my Home location more accurately, I found the GPS coordinates using Google Maps online and fed them into Brightkite and placemarked it from there.
That works great as a workaround, except it lists my suburb as a suburb I've never even heard of!
So when I checkin, local friends would actually have no idea where I was anyway.
So my first question is - What is the difference between the Google Maps application finding me and that of Brightkites using Google Maps and the same hardware?
Second question is when I select "Pick a Place" I actually find a placemark of someone in my same building, how do I add a placemark to this "list" - I assume it gets it from Google Maps somehow?

Inappropriate?Hi Luke, I have a couple questions for you. Are you using a 2.5G or 3G iPhone? What is the accuracy displayed in the app when it tries to find you? What is your Brightkite username?

Any feedback? -
Luke, thank you for all of the info. We haven't had a chance to take a look at this yet. Very sorry for the delay, we should be able to get to this soon. -
Inappropriate?Luke, have you tried using your address instead of coordinates? That may work better since we get info about suburbs based on location from a different service and it could be confused about where you live. Also, if you placemark based on your address that should show up in your "Pick a place" options since those listings are a combination of locations from Google Maps and places you have checked into before.
