Lat-long, please?
How about taking in lat-long coordinates, for locations off the postal grid? That'd be cool for adding some of my favorite recreation spots to "check in" from during this upcoming mountain biking and hiking season.

Inappropriate? That actually works already...just put it in like this:
39.762388, -104.982315
Since we don't have a name for that place, we try to come up with something meaningful (if we can).
-
Inappropriate? Will Brightkite accept coordinates in other GPS formats? Such as DD MM SS?
I’m Curious
-
We have no plans for that...converting it on your end should be trivial. -
Inappropriate?Go to the help section and watch the screencast.

Inappropriate?Eh - mostly just curious - not a big deal. I can get it from my GPS in almost any format.
I’m excited

Inappropriate? When i give lat/Longi details.. it just shows the country name that i checked in, and the map is not focused to the exact place.. it shows the whole country..
It will be a better idea if there is a facility to add place names wihh geoCoordiantes
ex : if I wanted to check in at Rashtrapathi Bhavan[Presidents House] NewDelhi, India...
I can put coordinates like this :: 28°36'52"N 77°11'55"E,RashtrapathiBhavan, Newdelhi, India.
Thus a new place can also be added to the bkite db..
I’m Not at all satisfied with check in

I have the same problem: when I enter coordinates for a location and attribute a custom name to it, Brightkite just returns the two-letter code for the country the place is in and the zoom level of the map shows the whole country instead of the specific area. :( -
Inappropriate?Hi Ben. You can check in via lat long and give your place a custom name. For example.
Enter the following in place search bar:
28.614444, 77.198611 [RashtrapathiBhavan, Newdelhi, India]
You can then placemark that address if it is a location that you frequent.
More on custom names here.

Inappropriate?I am able to checkin with lat/long from the site, and via SMS, but it kicks back an error when I try to do it via email. Any ideas?

Heh... nevermind. It was malformed email headers on my part :-) LOVE brightkite! keep up the good work!
