Make it easier to find and add locations/placemarks
It's really hard to find and add new locations and placemarks from the web UI. Example: I'm about to go to a Starbucks up the street, so I tried typing "Starbucks" into Brightkite's search box. I even tried "Starbucks Westminster, CO." But your web UI can't find that store unless I do something like go to Google Maps in another tab, find that store manually, then copy and paste its address back into Brightkite.
That's really cumbersome.

Inappropriate?I agree. I also think that importing from existing databases of locations would make a TON of sense. Many of us have already done a lot of placemarking on Dodgeball, Upcoming, Plazes and elsewhere... please don't make us enter that data all over again!

We are using an existing database, we just haven't gotten around to hooking up the ? SMS functionality to the web version.

Cool -- but what about the existing aliases we've created elsewhere? What kind of database are you drawing on? -
We're drawing from a Yellow Pages database. Which aliases have you created? Maybe some sort of import function might make sense? We have an API in the works that should make that easy.

Inappropriate?Ah, tried that. It's still not working in Brightkite, but it is in Google Maps.
Search brightkite for business "Butter Label" and then search Google Maps businesses for "Butter Label".
One works, one doesn't. This will really help people check in quickly!
