Naming places

Hi futuresandwich, I think I see where you might be getting confused. You added that place as a placemark, but the name that you give a placemark doesn't make it visible by others, it's specific to only your account. Placemark names are short nicknames that you can give places you frequent to make checking in easier via SMS, email, or whatever method you use. So for instance I have my home address placemarked as "home" which means I can send "@home" via SMS or I can type "home" into Brightkite's place search and have it take me straight to that page. But when I check in there, it doesn't show up as "home" for other people.

To give a place a name that others will see (what we call a label), you'll have to enter the following into our place search on the web:

1234 address [insert custom label here]
