Inappropriate? This is on our to-do list.
-
Inappropriate?I should point out that while you're working on an Android client for Brightkite there's already a simplistic Fire Eagle client for android and while it seems that brightkite can tell me where I last checked in fire eagle it doesn't actually USE that info, which seems silly.

Inappropriate?I'm still waiting for two-way integration between Brightkite and Fire Eagle. Two way integration between Brightkite and Google Latitude would be awesome as well. I want updates to one service to update all three of them!
I’m hopeful
-
We're actively working on supporting 2-way Fire Eagle. Unfortunately, Latitude does not offer an API at this time, so that will be a little trickier. -
Inappropriate?How's it coming?
-
Slowly. ;) Pulling from FE coincides with some other changes that we are working on, but those have taken longer than expected and are what's causing the delay with implementing this. We have some really cool stuff in store for Brightkite that should start rolling out soon. :) -
Inappropriate? It just so happens that I've tapped into FireEagle's and BrightKite's respective APIs, and I have create a Fire Eagle / BrightKite bridge which pulls your location from FE and sets it in BK. Here's the URL:
http://geo.digitprop.com/aggregator/
This is of course not really scalable, as it polls the FE location for each registered user every 5 minutes, but for the time being it works.
I’m happy
-
That's great, Digitprop, but I'd feel a bit more comfortable if I knew that you had Brightkite's blessing on this :) Brightkite, you guys have anything to say about your own integration? -
We are still working on it. :) -
Hope it happens soon cause I use ping.fm, but it has no service for fire eagle, so brightkite is like my relay point. -
Cadill: I know what you mean. However, this is a small web app I cobbled together in a day, and is by no means intended to interfere with BK's own plans. As soon as BK has its own mechanism for pulling in information from FE, I will be happy to take it down. And BK can, too, if they feel it's a problem (I don't think they do, as it adds value to BK). After all, the app had to be registered in order to access the API. In any case, this is just a temporary workaround.
