Problem with FireEagle integration?
Is the wider outage also affecting FireEagle integration? My brightkite account doesn't seem to be updating over to my FireEagle account.

Inappropriate?Hi obsolete29, I tested this with a bunch of different checkins and FE was updated almost immediately for each one. I also took a look at your account and the location FE has listed for you seems to coincide with your most recent check in.
-
Inappropriate?Fire Eagle doesn't seem to be updating for me; last update recorded as 6 days ago. Fire Widgets is updating. Could there be a conflict at the Fire Eagle end?
-
Inappropriate?Hi DIH, I think it might be something on FE's end. We're showing your last check in as being updated in FE as well.

I tested this with my accounts and it was updating my FE right after my checkins.
If FE can't find a problem, let us know and we will look into this further.

I'll keep an eye on it, it's working at the moment, but I can assure you when I updated on Fire Widgets (Mac Dashboard) it seemed to grab the application space and I couldn't update using Brightkite, at all. -
Ah, I see. I'll play around with Fire Widgets today and see if I can reproduce the problem. -
Inappropriate?Any chance we'll be seeing Brightkite reading location _from_ Fire Eagle any time soon?
-
Why would you want to read location from Fire Eagle into Brightkite. The point of Fire Eagle (as I see it, imho) is that it is an aggregator a sort of post restante where you can go and pick-up your location for all sorts of purposes. You then have clients (eg Brightkite), widgets (Fire Widget), or more interestingly GPS-devices, posting actual location to Fire Eagle.
So, the more interesting questions are about more universal support for GPS-enabled devices, eg BlackBerry, in Brightkite, and perhaps more intriguing - what do you do with your Google Latitude information? -
Hi DIH,
To make Fire Eagle really useful, the services I use (such as Brightkite) need to be able to read my location from it, so if I use another service to update my location (such as the GPS on my phone which can update Fire Eagle automatically), all the other services I use will automatically know where I am.
Ideally, all fire eagle services should be able to both update and read my location from Fire Eagle. -
Yes. Pulling from FE coincides with some other changes that we are working on, but those have taken longer than expected and are what's causing the delay with implementing this. We have some really cool stuff in store for Brightkite that should start rolling out soon. :) -
So, Lesley, I'm still waiting for Brightkite/Fireeagle two-way integration. Is that going to happen? -
Inappropriate?OK. As long as it's optional pulling from FE on a case by case (or by option choice) - I'm cool. Don't want push from FE to brightkite. under any circumstances - destroys purpose of brightkite - won't repeat points made earlier.
As I've also said before FE is an aggregator and there are many possible socialmedia community tools that I might want to pull geolocation information from FE into that community; but in the same way there any many other socialmedia communities that I might choose to only update myself on an ad hoc basis and not have all members of that community seeing my location when I'm not actively using that tool. -
Inappropriate? So, Brightkite, how are you doing in getting the Fire Eagle to Brightkite integration done? We've been waiting for more than a year now.
I’m undecided
