Release dates / Progress on the following...
After reading several posts the Brightkite-dev team is woking on several projects. I would love to know how things are going.
1.The desktop application for Windows and Mac computers > According to previous statements by Brady this was supposed to be ready last month. So how is it going?
2.The Facebook app. Brightkite promised Facebook integration > How far are you guys with developing this?
3.Brightkite is considering making a Dashboard (Mac OSX) widget (ref: we're considering making our own widget, if we have the time. We're a small company, so sometimes that can be a challenge.). Is this still in the pipeline?
4.And yes the iPhone app. Everyone knows its coming, but still the company knows how far the project is and must be able to give a somewhat detailed ETA on it.
4.1 Is the iPhone Brightkite app going to use the push notification service provided by Apple, to be released in september?
A bit more personal...
4.2 Is there any word on Periodic Automatic Checkins either by Brightkite or other third-party dev team with the Brightkite API?
Thank you all for doing a great job guys, keep the good work going!

Inappropriate?1. *shrug* Web apps seem to function alright, though a Twhirl-like interface might be nice.
2. I'm waiting on this one
3. Why not just use a web clipping?
4.1 Apple provides no real "push notification service." It just added support for their own MobileMe servicers (formerly .Mac) and Exchange, which all had existing infrastructures. BrightKite would probably have to build one from scratch.
I’m indifferent

Inappropriate?Apple IS going to provide a push notification service, to be released in September. Link: http://www.engadget.com/2008/06/09/ip...

Inappropriate?To Kichigai,
Yes the Web apps are nice, but I for one, and others, would like to have a Desktop app. This is promised by the developers and so for is nowhere in sight. An update on how its going would be nice. About the Dashboard widget. First ''Web Clipping'' is only available when you have Mac OSX Leopard. Many are not yet upgraded (including myself). And just like with the Webb apps Vs. the Desktop App: its nicer to have a native (official) app running on your pc/mac that is designed from the ground up to provide quick updates from and to your Brightkite account.
I wish you the best!

Inappropriate?1.The desktop application for Windows and Mac computers > According to previous statements by Brady this was supposed to be ready last month. So how is it going?
- Some things take longer than expected. We are a small team the API took longer than expected and our efforts have been on the native iPhone application lately. However...we do know that there are some desktop and AIR clients in the works by the dev community using our API. Expect these sometime soon. We encourage 3rd party development around these needs.
2.The Facebook app. Brightkite promised Facebook integration > How far are you guys with developing this?
- This is still on the road map, unfortunately we have no ETA.

- I assure you it is coming soon :)
4.1 Is the iPhone Brightkite app going to use the push notification service provided by Apple, to be released in September?
- Yes it will :)
A bit more personal...
4.2 Is there any word on Periodic Automatic Checkins either by Brightkite or other third-party dev team with the Brightkite API?
-We have no plans to do auto-checkins from a official Brightkite client. Due to privacy issues we will continue to allow people to broadcast their location only when they want to.
There currently is a way to automatic checkins using the SPOT satellite tracker. Additionally there are some devs considering writing some apps that will do auto checkins.
I’m interrogated ;)
