responding to business location question via email
Since Brightkite does not yet work with Verizon via SMS, I have been updating my location via email. However I ran into 1 issue tonight.
I sent the following command in the email:
?buffalo wild wings
and got the following response:
Pick one:
1) Buffalo Wild Wings (211 Prices Fork Rd)
2) more
When I tried responding with 1, I got the follow error response back:
Sorry, but we didn't understand you. To post a note here, reply with SAY YOURNOTE. To message somebody, use MSG USERNAME MESSAGE, for example MSG HIRO HI
Is it possible to respond to these questions via email or is that SMS only? This wont be a problem once SMS is available on Verizon as I will just use that but I was wondering if it was possible or if I was doing something wrong.
Thanks and I love the service. Keep it up!

Inappropriate?I haven't been having any problems with this on Verizon.
-
Are you sending the emails through SMS? I am sending them via my BlackBerry which maybe part of the issue. -
Inappropriate?Just tested this via GMail instead of my BlackBerry and it does work.
I am thinking it has to do with my signature being added when on the BlackBerry. Didn't think about that until just now...
Maybe when the API is released, I could create a simple application for the BlackBerry. Is there an ETA on the API release?
Thanks,
Jason Emerick
I’m happy

Inappropriate?Yeah, I've been doing email via SMS. Have you been putting your response--1, 2, etc.--in the subject line or the body of the email? In another thread they've mention ignoring the body, at least for photos, precisely because signatures are hard to deal with.

I actually tried using the subject line first, but I kept getting the same error as above. When I move the "?buffalo wild wings" statement to the body of the email, I got the response above. When replying I tried putting "1" in the subject line and body once again with the same results.
