Security Settings for Photos Cross-Posted to Twitter
Right now privacy settings only appear for checkins and posts, not photos. I'd like to see them for photos, too. The reason I ask is that I want photos to be treated on Twitter with security setting associated with Everyone, which they currently don't seem to have. Thanks!

Inappropriate?Hi Mconnick.
Your "posts" (posts include notes and photos) only post to Twitter while in "Public" mode. While in private mode your posts will appear within Brightkite with the proper privacy applied, but while in Private mode posts do not share to twitter. -
Alas, Brady, that doesn't appear to be the way Brightkite actually works. Yesterday I created a test post in Brightkite while in Private mode. If you'll check my account (id is mconnick) you'll see it there with the little closed padlock symbol indicating that it is Private. However, if you inspect my Twitter account (also with an id of mconnick) you'll see the cross-post there with a link to the supposedly private posting and a reference to the complete address. Looks like a very bad security bug. -
Inappropriate?Hi Mconnick. Be sure your private mode "Everyone" settings are set to "Hidden" if you do not want posts to share with Twitter. "Everyone" includes everyone on Brightkite and Twitter.
It is set up this way so you can apply varying levels of privacy filters to your posts. For example if you set your "Everyone" settings to "Hidden", then your posts will be hidden from everyone (including twitter). If you set your "Everyone" setting to "City" then everyone (plus twitter) will see your posts at city level. If you set your "Everyone" setting to "Exact" then everyone (plus twitter) will see your posts at the exact location.
This week we are working on clarifying how the privacy filters work with a new design. Sorry for the confusion. Thanks for your feedback, it is helping us identify the confusion around the privacy filters. -
Thanks for the clarification, but there is still a problem. I did have the Everyone setting for Posts set to City, but the link from the Twitter posting connected to a Brightkite posting containing the complete address. What you just described is exactly the way I want Brightkite to work.
