SMS multiple commands at once (save $ + time)
This doesn't seem to work.. only seems to take one command at a time. It would be nice if you could send an SMS when your profile is set to private that looked like this:
"public @location !I'm at <location>, come meet me!"
Which would set your location, set it public, and send a message all at once.
Currently it appears as though you have to send three text messages to do this, like:
"public"
now set to public
"@location"
now set at location
"!message"
Message published.
Any chances of Brightkite being able to parse three commands from one SMS?</location>

Inappropriate?Right now we are only supporting one command at the time. We'll look into multiple command functionality, it will just have to wait until we get some of the more significant features out of the door.
We appreciate the input, keep it coming.
I’m thankful

Inappropriate? This would obviously be natural for dodgeball users, and might prevent some who are very entrenched in the service from switching.

Inappropriate?Another vote here, FWIW. I'd really like to be able to send "@sbux Man it's crowded here." This could check me into my Starbucks placemark and post a note that says "Man it's crowded here," plus post that as a single message to Twitter instead of sending two separate tweets.
I’m hopeful

Ah, but you'd need a way to tell BK that you didn't mean Sbux in Manchester Airport (@sbux Man) - I like the idea but can see how the implementation could be complicated! ;-) -
Not at all. He means when @sbux is a defined location in your profile. His sbux would already have a defined exact location - so BK would know exactly where it is already. In my original request that's what I was referring to. Where all @location's are those stored within your profile already. -
I'm not suggesting it shouldn't be done, just pointing out that it's probably not as simple as it might look at first glance. And while I can see how it might work for placemarks, I suspect many of us also go to places we hadn't previously placemarked - and for general locations, there are a *lot* variables to be taken into account. Even separating the items with the exclamation mark could be difficult - "@starbucks !Man! it's busy..." - does the second exclamation start a new note? etc. -
Nah, everything after the first ! is the comment and it comes last, so everything after the first ! is the straight text. And I only meant for this to work with already saved placemarks. The syntax is pretty straightforward: [public or private] @[location] ![message]. If you were somewhere you'd never been before you just do the standard check-in by text and then text your message ![message] like you normally would. -
Inappropriate?Any news on this front?
-
Inappropriate?I'm still very much in favor of this functionality, especially since Verizon is now supporting Brightkite via SMS! @[placemark] ![note] would be a very convenient dual-function string

Inappropriate? Thanks for the bump, this feature is still on our to do list. Our team has been tied up in some other areas, but we hope to tackle this as soon as we can.

Inappropriate?Excellent! Good show. Thanks for the speedy reply. Glad to hear it's still planned!
