Texting in GPS Coordinates checks me in to USA
With my Windows Mobile phone and with its GPS AND with a third party app called GPS2Clipboard I am able to send in coordinates to Kite but it just checks me in to USA.
Would love this to work like a normal checkin. Beats having to know addresses :)

Inappropriate?Hi digiSal.
When you text in a lat, long Brightkite it will check you in at the specified lat long even though it may return USA as the name. If you zoom in on the map you will see it correctly located you at the specified location. Lat,long check in's are reverse geocoded to find a name, if it cant find anything better it will attach USA to the check in. We agree this is a little clunky at the moment and we are working on improving the lat, long check in's.
Do you have an example of a lat long where you were checkin in at? We will take a look. -
Inappropriate?Brady, what you described is exactly what happens. I just now sent in: 26.17736500 -97.66868500
and it checked me in at USA, instead of the address or city. Those coordinates are also the address for one of my placemarks called "work". Would be so cool if Bkite would've known that.
On a somewhat related note, Vito just released a FREE program for Windows Mobile devices called Find Me. If I have this program running on my GPS enabled phone, and you were to text me with a secret code I give you, you will then receive my GPS Coordinates via text. Would be awesome if Bkite could be the sender of that code so it could automatically check me in.
