Inappropriate?It should be working...however, we are no longer doing Twitter posts for checkins, only posts and notes. For checkins, we set your Twitter location field accordingly, due to popular demand.5 Comments

Please give us an option to have checkins show. "Popular demand" does not apply to everyone, and telling people where I am via Twitter is one of the features I like the most. Why should people have to check a location field, especially when they follow updates via the mobile site or via SMS? Default it off to new accounts, certainly, but for those of us who already had it and did not turn it off, chances are we want it. -
We've had a lot of people complain about the feature...but we're willing to hear the other side...what do people think?

I'd say since people are complaining, leave it off by default, but provide a checkbox. I think that would be fair to everyone, since they have to go out of their way slightly to turn it on. And thank you for the response, and I hope I did not sound too harsh.

That basically how we had it, it was off by default. It wasn't so much the people who enabled it who complained, it was their followers on Twitter.

Personally, it seems to me like an issue for the posters themselves to address.

Inappropriate?I want it to post in the Twitter stream, not update location. I set location to the city I am in, not these micro changes. I want followers to be able to join me at a bar, or know I am in the office.

Inappropriate?I just enabled twitter integration. It has been 15 minutes since posting and still not visible via twitter. My initial test did not work or else the latency of updates is quite high. :-)
FireEagle integration worked great though. Sweet! -
Inappropriate?I did turn off twitter posts for when I post a photo and when I checkin. However, I have the settings turned on for when I post a note and to update my location for twitter when I checkin. So, I had expected my post of a note to show up on twitter. Interesting thing is my location updates are getting pushed to twitter. I'll try turning on posting of photos to see whether that will make the note posting start working for me too.

Inappropriate?Nope. The only setting I have turned off now is the posting of checkin locations on twitter. Another test note didn't go through just now. Strange that the location updates would work for a checkin, but, not the tweet integration for a posted note.

Inappropriate?I am still having this problem too. I have selected the option to update twitter when I post a note. And I have posted 2 notes since, and none of them have turned up on Twitter. And that's 8mins ago, and 1hr ago. Thank you for looking into this, I love the site!1 Comment Add a comment

Are you in private mode? If so, it will only post to Twitter if non-friends on Brightkite would see the note.

It might help to make this clear somewhere or make it impossible for people in to set the Twitter posting options that are in conflict with their privacy options.

Inappropriate?That was my problem too. You can still have privacy turned on, but, you need to change to at least "City" sharing for everyone to get the two features working properly together.

Inappropriate?Yes, I had the same problem. Once I changed my settings to allow everyone to view posts, Twitter lit up.

Inappropriate?How long does it usually take to sync a note to Twitter? I have Twitter synchronization enabled, and in privacy settings I have it set to "city" for everyone else. I updated via mobile e-mail about 10 minutes ago, but Twitter doesn't show new status.
