Use Placemark name in Status update.
It would be nice when checking in to use the placemark name in the update. Here in Australia many venues are not names and the status gets set to the address (with the address again in brackets) - just incase you didn't ready it the first time.
eg. I'm at 185 George St, Bathurst, NSW 2795, Australia (185 George St, Bathurst, NSW 2795, AU). This poor update also get syndicated to Twitter.
This would be better as Waratah Bar & Grill (185 George St, Bathurst, NSW 2795, Australia). "Waratah Bar & Grill" is the name I gave it in My Placemarks. This would also work well when people check into "Home" or any other personal placemark that would be personal/unique to the user.

Inappropriate?Mountain/\Ash, you can create custom labels for locations and then placemark those locations for easy checkins. You can make these labels the same as your placemark names or whatever you want. So if you wanted to give your home address a label, on the web you would type this into the search bar:
1234 address [Home]
That location will then be labeled as "Home" whenever you check in or post there. More on custom labels here:

this is one of the best points

Inappropriate?I use FriendFeed. When the location shows up in my feed it is labeled with the location title (raw address) Brightkite chooses, not the title I gave it when saving the location in my Placemarks. Our personal labels can add context to our favorite locations (Placemarks).
I’m annoyed

If you give the location a custom label, it will share that name along with the address from Brightkite. Sharing placemark names is something we're considering, but we don't have any immediate plans to do that.
