What a pile of...
nice ideas, wrapped in a straight-jacket. Not sure what it gives me over Jaiku. Regardless, it's about as US-centric as it could get.. you do know there are other countries out there, right? There's no reason for these kind of things to limit their audience at launch..

Hi Aksyn. We are planning on expanding our SMS functionality to other countries. This is a true beta and currently we don't have the resources to expand SMS to other countries, but we are working on it. In which country do you live?
In the meantime you can check in and post via mobile email from any country. Many users are finding this works just fine.
Here are the instructions how:

Inappropriate? Thanks for the quick response, I'm in the UK. The "check in" bar at the top of brightkite website didn't let me update my location because it couldn't find a match. I've just tried it again, and it worked with something less specific.. perhaps you should let people define their own location if you can't find a match?
I’m on the fence

Inappropriate?Where exactly are you trying to check in at? Maybe I can help.
If you location is not on the map or can't be found you can check in via latitude, longitude.
See the last screencast at the bottom of the page titled "Latitude / Longitude".
