Sending Email Commands cause double actions

When I send in commands (check in's, photos, etc) by email they post to my account twice. All the commands work like I expect, they just show up twice.

Set location by phone and zip code.

It'd be handy if Brightkite allowed me to set my location by calling in and entering in my zip code. Texting is an additional cost for me.

    Automatic GPS updates

Automatic location tracking via mologogo.com would be great for those wanting continuous tracking. It can be initiated by sms for non-continuous.

This jerk near me won't update his location

So some guy from about 20 miles south of here recently visited a location my area (4000 meters). He went home, and is still posting update 'messages'. I get every one. He's announcing that he's going to some location, but he never updates from that location. This is really annoying, and I've tried to contact him to say, hey, update your location, but he seems to be ignoring me. That's great fun, to see a ton of messages from this jerk who thinks brightkite is like twitter in that you OCCASIONALLY tell it where you are and just update no matter what.

There needs to be a "This guy is doin' it wrong" button, so you can send him a message saying "Hey, you're posting messages to a location you are not at and have not been at for a week, fix your location". Even if he just fixed cities (he lives 2 cities away) that would be good enough.

Also, it would be neat if some locations could have a time limit. You can't stay at a movie theater overnight, for example, and you would be auto checked out if you were still listed as being there for 24 hours. This allows it to cover people who work at a theater, as well as people who are just seeing a movie.

One solution is ignoring everyone around me just so I don't get updates from this one guy who doesn't know how to use BrightKite. Another is to block him, which is going to happen very soon. But I don't think he's going to be the first or the last to not really understand the idea of posting messages to a location.

    Sub-location Check-in

Allow sub-location check-ins. After checking in with "@location", use "#sublocation". This is different from a 'say', because it's a refinement of the location.
    Examples:
    "@rec center", "#in the pool"
    "@work", "#conference room 3"
    "@Hacienda Colorado", "#The Tequila Room"

Invite form error ate my invite!

After the invite form returned an error due to a malformed e-mail address, my invite count was decremented although no invite had been sent.

More invites for a location-based experiment

I'd like to request more invites; I'm trying to get a strong group of local Brightkiters going at Oberlin College. I'm curious to see how the last week of school and following diaspora will affect a Brightkite community.

    Thanks!

    More invites pretty puh-leeze

OK, I'm getting *really* popular around here cause I had invites... Now I'm out, and no one will play with me. Can I have a few more? It's kinda like my mom hanging pork chops around my neck when I was a kid so the dogs would play with me, huh? B-))

    Thanks ya'll - cool service!

requests for invites just diluting this system!

I have an idea for you guys- don't ask people to ask for invites, it's clogging up this system and creating 100s of redundant posts. Instead do this:

Give us all 3 invites, if our 3 invited people log in and use the system, reward us with 3 more invites, etc. etc.

this encourages us to get others more active on the site, and gets rid of all these damn friend invite requests in here!!!!

Shameless begging for invites from Reno-Tahoe

    Howdy from SkiNo, Nevada!

May I purdy-puleeze have some more invites!? I have about 50 fellow skiing / snowboarding / kayaking / cycling / coffee-guzzlin' / redbull vodka boozing / PBR drinking friends/employees to get on this. An even 100 should be just nifty, but I could get by with 5- or 60 to start!

Will trade lift tickets to Heavenly, Squaw, Northstar and Alpine Meadows 8-)

    David

PS I'm Aspen/Crested Butte native. Playing up my Colorado heritage FTW!

If account email is same as that activation code was sent to, don't require confirmation

Motivation: After a user signs up with an email address, they're sent a confirmation email. That's one more email that needs to make it past a spam blocker, and one more hassle during the signup process.

Feature: Check to see if the email they registered with matches the email associated with the activation code, and don't send them a confirm code if it does. In order to create a consistent user experience it's best to still send them an email letting the user know that they're registration process is complete for the login name used (a handy reminder if they later forget it).
