How about: The notes section (I like at the bottom) has a simple dropdown to select an activity, but you can also leave that blank.
After entering a note, the box is blank again and ready to add another note.
So you can add as many separate notes as you want, with or without a project attached.
I’m intrigued

Inappropriate?I had some people send in ideas where the note would be per activity per day.
What do you think? Overkill? Or per activity? Or both?
Thanks,
Sean
I’m excited
-
Inappropriate?I vote for both.
I can see how having a notes field for each activity would be useful, but I'd also just like a generic notes field for things not related to specific activities.
Thanks Sean!

Where would the notes be "saved" then?
I was thinking they would always be visible. -
Inappropriate?Notes without a project specified could show up under the list of projects and be always visible.
Notes with a project specified show up attached to that project, like a little icon you can click on to view the note(s), maybe in the same way that you hover over the time for your projects to view graphs.

Inappropriate?I like the idea of the drop down for the activity or otherwise it's a general note.

Inappropriate? It would be nice if notes could be assigned to a specific time or bubble. I've been using David Seah's charts prior to BubbleTimer and made heavy use of the timeline on the bottom for showing what I did during large blocks of the day or making note of events. For example: I use it to track when I take certain medications and how it affects my productivity. Sometimes I write a note saying why I was sidetracked or what went wrong. Or I use it to schedule breaks like the "unschedule".
I understand this is probably a more complex thing to code. It's hard to beat the flexibility of paper. :)
I'd like to be able to click "new note" and then have the option of clicking on a time and then type from that point below. Sort of like a mini journal or notes thing.
Here is an incredibly poor mock up of what I had in mind:
Any thoughts?
I’m happy there's a place to suggest these things.
-
Couldn't this be done with the suggested setup? If it relates to an activity, enter new note, if needed with time information. If it's an activity like a break, enter the activity (if needed) and bubble it. And for scheduling, there seems to be something in the works already ... :-) -
Yeah, you could click "new note" and then optionally link it to an activity or specific time. -
Inappropriate?I'll post some mockups of the notes support when they are ready so everyone can provide feedback.
Thanks,
Sean

Inappropriate?I'm loving the notes so far! The simple implimentation (one note per task) is enough for me. The note per day is a little bonus. The way they appear on the report is good too.
BTW I saw the notes appear yesterday afternoon sometime and was like 'what? how long have these notes been here? did I miss the announcement?!' still, I started using them right away because it was so obvious how to use them :-)
I’m thrilled

Emily,
Awesome! I'm so glad to hear it. I hope to make activity categories just as obvious.
Thanks,
Sean
