Sub-activities
Hello there! I'd like to ask what the dev team thinks about sub-activities.
Example: I have a main activity called "Study for DCS100" that I'd like to spend 2 hours on every day. The three main sub-activities would be "Revise previous material", "Preview future material" and "Complete current exercises".
I could spend 2 hours on completing a hard piece of homework, or I could spend 1 hour on revising previous material and then another hour on previewing next week's lecture notes.
It doesn't really matter how much time I spend on each sub-activity, as long as the total time spent on the sub-activities sums up to 2 hours every day.
That way, I can track if I have been spending too much time on the homework for this module and allocate more time towards the main activity of "Study for DCS100" to make sure that I have time to revise and preview material.

I marked this as "we'll think about it"... but I'm already thinking through categories which many people have requested and I think your sub-activity idea fits neatly into that. I'll make sure I review your message once I have the mockup ready to make sure it fits. If it doesn't I might come back to ask you some questions here.

Inappropriate?I think the sub-activities idea would be fantastic. I run a small press company and one of the things I would love to be able to do is, when I am managing a project, to be able to break it down into parts but when not actively using it "collapse" it into a single-line entry that summarizes the time on all the parts.
Regardless, I have to say this is an amazing piece of work as-is. Simple, elegant, and easy to use. I've only been working with it for 5 days now and I am already finding it invaluable. Will definitely be paying the all-too-little $20... Do you have a donation box?

I can't say how great it is to hear your compliments. I've put in more time, effort and money into BubbleTimer than I'll ever get back from it. It's a true labor of love and reading comments like yours makes it all worthwhile.
You'll be happy to know that pretty much exactly what you describe there for sub-activities is what Eric is working on right now (we're calling it categories) and you'll have it pretty soon.

Inappropriate?Just realised that my idea could be satisfied by this idea, as I could group multiple activites under Work, and others under Breaks and then I can see when I've hit my work goal.

I find myself in the exact same situation as you Emily. In need of some quick sub-totals on groups of activities.
Shh.... don't tell anyone, but when I need a feature too, it tends to get done faster.

Inappropriate?Defintely a good idea. I am a consultant working on several customers and projects per day, so having a total time spent per customer/project rolling up from sub-activities, would be nice. If sub-activities could be collapsed, it would also give a better overview of the day.
