I cannot login with my existing account with a new install of buddycloud. :S It never offered me the opportunity of using my existing account after installing the new version. It simple brought up a "Create account" screen, with no exit option. So I put in my existing settings, to which it told me "Username already exists" then it went to the main Buddycloud screen, so I went into the settings and set my old account settings where i usually would have, and told it to login. It kept saying it could not create an account because that username already exists!!! I wasn't even trying to create an account then! ARGH! How the heck am I meant to login to my current account if it won't let me?!? This is majorly annoying! :( I really don't want to create a new account... I have all my locations in my old account. First Buddycloud tells me to update, i follow the link and perform the update, and now i cant access my account? Was there something wrong with following what the Update Notification Channel told me to do? Should I have told it to update via the update option in the software? If so, where does it warn me about this, because I saw no warning. Please help me fix this as I pretty much use Buddycloud 24/7 and I'm missing it :( Thanks!!!
Rumours say you will make something with buddycloud on web, too. I really would like to see an available map, where I can see what is already tagged and where I can help. Hope you implement this in future.
just updated from 0.3 to 0.4 and ran into two problems:
some of the chat rooms (channels) have disappeared ("Deutsche Sprachgruppe" has disappeared from my personal buddy cloud, there is an new channel called "Deutsche Sprachkanal" which obviosly is a different German channel (different content). What happened to the other channel? I've also noted some other channels have disappeared...
the second problem is privacy. BC argues in the help file, that setting a place to private (instead of shared) prevents the location to be transmitted to others). Now, I've set a location to private, named it (because it was a new place to BC) and then expected it to remain hidden on the facebook widget. It didn't. the location is still available on the buddycloud badge on my facebook account. the help file of BC says explicitly that the atribute private to a location prevents it from being seen by others. Why is that?
What happend to the friends function? In version 0.3 one invited people as friends, in version 0.4 one seems to "follow" people. what's the difference?
When I select “Edit details” for a previously defined place in the Places tab but then change my mind and select Cancel the “City, Postal code”-field get stripped of its previous value and set to “null null”. All the other details for the place are correctly reverted back to the values they had before the editing, but the “City, Postal code” gets nullified.
This happens even if I don’t actually edit anything at all. It’s sufficient to choose “Edit details” for a place and then immediately press cancel.
Minor niggle, but sometimes quite annoying.
(Oh, and this is the 0.3-version of the S60-client on a Nokia E75)
I'm trying to get my statusreports to twitter but when i go into settings>my group>twitter and i fill in my user&pass, i get the following:
Bijwerking van de software is mislukt. Gaarne je identiteit controleren en opnieuw proberen.
That's dutch for something like: the software update failed. please check your identity and try again.
I tried again a few times but it doesn't seem to work. I'm thinking im doing something wrong, searched but didn't find anything, so i don't know what.
Its version 0.03 on a nokia e71.
I would like some way to know the local time of the POSTER for an update. Sometimes it might help to understand the tone and context of a post if I knew whether the poster was posting first thing in the morning, at the end of the work day, or up with insomnia at 4 A.M. I am only seeing the first few letters of the city name (e.g., "Munche"), so I often don't know the country of origin, let alone the time zone. This could be done in just a few characters after MY local time in the message. For example, the post I recently received:
"Saturday at 4:03 PM - Munche
Could be ..."
might be shown as:
"Saturday at 16:30 (22:30)- Munche
Could be..."
I changed both times to 24-hour clock to save characters so that the new post takes only a few more characters than the original. Any thoughts?
I'm a big friend of twitter and guess that I qualify as a heavy user, see my twitter account.
We are about to open up our push to twitter functionality to all Buddycloud users.
Would you be interested in being able to have 2-way twitter communication built into the Buddycloud client or is pushing your Buddycloud status to twitter all you need?
OK, I'm getting to be pretty pleased w/ Buddycloud. As soon as you get clients for other platforms, I'll be pushing hard for my friends to join us here. My friends have iPhone, Blackberry, and Windows Mobile, so you have your work cut out for you! :-)
Maybe you recognized, I like that tag thing, but asking myself how it really works, so that I can explain it to someone who are new to buddycloud.
Did you sync your location server with my phone? Or do you save all my tagged places forever at the location server? So what will happen if I delete them on my phone? Will they still apear on my phone as near Hiroshima Park etc?
I might be missing something, but when there are new posts to a channel, that channel moves up right under my name. So I have made it a habit to check there when I pick up my phone. Unfortunately, I don't know HOW MANY groups to go through (i.e., WHICH groups other than the first have new messages). It would be really nice if the groups that have to be read would be highlighted in some way so I know which ones I need to check for new messages. Or better yet, some way to see JUST new messages.
OK, Buddycloud does not seem to properly do exactly what it is designed to do. When I'm at home, I want Buddycloud to detect that I'm at home and post that status to Facebook. What happens, however, is that when I'm at home Buddycloud shows "Somewhere new in Boardman". I've tried to bookmark this location and it seems to make no difference. How can I get Buddycloud to report that I'm back home.
create an interface with the new Google Latitude.
Buddycloud is there when you need fast and light (ie on mobile), and Google can do the maps bit (which is expensive and in the end not as interesting as the status & location stuff)
I asked this in the bc app once, but I guess It were overheard.
What about an automatic disconnection if battery is low? So maybe it I have only one bar left to disconnect from gprs/3G/HSDAP? I love this feature since I have seen it at a few other apps.
I've tried to create an account using a desktop client, as I don't have a mobile phone capable of running the mobile client (yet). It seems to reject the request. Should it be possible, and if not, is there some other way of creating an account without the mobile client. I'm interested in playing with the API.
Hi. When i update my status on the application, the message on the bottom says "Updating..." forever. My status in twitter or facebook hasn't change. The internet connection is OK, i'm using wifi and can browse pages using the same access point in my Nokia E65 browser.
I'm trying to get my location out of the system using PHP and the HTTP-bind gateway. I've worked out how to initiate a session, but I don't know how to get anything more than my suburb. I'm wondering if someone could clue me in as to how to do this?
In particular I'm looking for the stanza that'll return me a <geo> or something. Is there a trick to this, or is it not available through the API?</geo>
works only with cell-tower location, but no gps. if i deactivate cell-tower location, buddycloud cant find my actual location over gps. no place added! the location window is empty! a bug?
Was using BC on my new 5800 and had to remove :( Every time I went to exit the program (logout/exit), if I had been online for a while the screen goes black and colors in a thin line scroll around the right side of the screen. I had to remove the battery to recover the phone and re-boot it. I hope you all can fix this in the near future!
