Puzzling Changes from v 0.3 to 0.4
just updated from 0.3 to 0.4 and ran into two problems:
some of the chat rooms (channels) have disappeared ("Deutsche Sprachgruppe" has disappeared from my personal buddy cloud, there is an new channel called "Deutsche Sprachkanal" which obviosly is a different German channel (different content). What happened to the other channel? I've also noted some other channels have disappeared...
the second problem is privacy. BC argues in the help file, that setting a place to private (instead of shared) prevents the location to be transmitted to others). Now, I've set a location to private, named it (because it was a new place to BC) and then expected it to remain hidden on the facebook widget. It didn't. the location is still available on the buddycloud badge on my facebook account. the help file of BC says explicitly that the atribute private to a location prevents it from being seen by others. Why is that?
What happend to the friends function? In version 0.3 one invited people as friends, in version 0.4 one seems to "follow" people. what's the difference?

Inappropriate?the solution to the privacy issue of the facebook badge is simple: authorize (select) friends or select networks to access it.
I’m confident.

Inappropriate?hunter, thanks a lot for the feedback! Great that you found a solution for the privacy issue yourself. Privacy is very important to us in our application. So, do let us know of any other concerns.
By now, I am sure that you got used to the greatly improved, new client. So, you will likely also have found all your preferred channels already.
About some inconsistencies in the channels, these were clearly related to the transition to the new version last month. In the process, some not so active channels may have been dropped or renamed. Please, feel free to create any further channels that you are still missing. If you miss these, it's likely that other users will, too.
By now you will also have noticed that buddycloud >channels< are not just chat groups. They have a well-defined topic and a responsible owner to moderate the channel, add value to it, and get credit for the channel's success! Makes sense to make this difference clear in the name ("German Channel") right away, doesn't it?
You'll also see that it makes sense to talk about "followers" in this context rather than friends. buddycloud is not just about friends. You create a community of exciting people around your topic of choice. These people can come from anywhere in the world, following you for what you provide or what you are, not just because they know you as friends.
I’m happy
