file cabinets? maybe something that you can orginize folders in to that come out like drawers. have something stationary so there wont be any frantic searching
widgets? adding things like windows that show the weather, clocks to put on the wall ect ect
customizable icons turning things like photoshop in to an easel, media players in to an ipod, mp3s into cds stuff like that
expanding the email into a full on mail box or in/out boxes that automatically updates when you send recieve email

Inappropriate?the file cabinets are a good idea, great way to organise things.
the widgets are in development, the are making a "weather window" that should be out very soon,
a few people have asked abot 3D icons, no word on how far the team are with that, they are experimenting though (or so i have heard)
also they are making a mail pile for your desktop.
