Beta 19 (build 2276) is now available for testing!
A new beta build, Beta 19 (build 2276) is now available for testing for both VIP and regular beta testers!
While BumpTop includes an updating mechanism, you can also manually download this update using the link in your original invite email.
If you're not yet a beta tester, but want to be, see this post:
http://getsatisfaction.com/bumptop/to...
If you're already a beta tester, we'd love to have you sign up as a VIP and get this build now/sooner: http://bumptop.com/download/vip.php
Once you have the new build installed, please reply to this thread and let us know what you think:
Your information (if you've previously answered this for 2219, you can leave it out):
1) Your system specifications
a) CPU (keep in mind that your video card and video card driver will be the biggest determinant for performance, NOT your CPU!)
b) Video card (and if possible, video card driver version!)
c) RAM
d) OS version/service pack, 32-bit or 64-bit
e) approximate number of items on desktop and average FPS (hit F3 for this information)
Comment on these changes, if possible, from this build:
2) We've added an invite friends feature - do you like it? Will you use it?
3) Feature tour added - do you like it? Any improvements?
4) If you're using a NON-ENGLISH version of Windows: International support for "special" desktop icons - like My Computer - do these icons display properly now?
5) Miscellaneous OpenGL rendering fixes - icon rendering glitches
6) Added distinction between removable drive and removable disc - different icon
7) What's 1 thing you would fix in BumpTop? (We've taken a look at all your previous requests - and we hope to have some of these put in place for the next beta build!)
Once again, if there are specific bugs/issues that you're experiencing, please right click on the BumpTop folder and choose Send Feedback so we can properly track the issue, and collect the necessary pre-requisite system information to help you. Do NOT email feedback directly unless you are unable to start BumpTop altogether.
Thanks everyone!

There is a lot of choppy video on it. It is not lagging at all, it is just staticy sometimes for the program. The tiles seem to move along jerkingly.
Maybe sometime in the future, there will be an update to fix this. I will be here testing it more and more. Wonderful product. I will keep it.
I’m happy, and thankful

Hi Eric,
What frames per second are you getting? Push F3 and move an icon around constantly and see what you get.

Now I'm getting accustomed to it but it's pretty easy. Nice job!
I’m really happy for being invited

4) If you're using a NON-ENGLISH version of Windows: International support for "special" desktop icons - like My Computer - do these icons display properly now?
"My Computer" and "Recycle Bin" used to show up properly in the previous version. In Build 19 the recycle bin disappeared. My computer displays properly.
6) Added distinction between removable drive and removable disc - different icon
The CD icon doesn't show up here either. -
Can you reset your scene? Right click on BumpTop tray icon, Settings, and "Reset BumpTop Layout" - and see if the recycle bin comes back.
This is a known bug - we have a fix in the works.
Since this will erase your icon layout/pile information, you can back up your scene.bump file before attempting it, but it would be great if you could try this so we can confirm that it fixes it for you. -
Yep, that worked on my vista machine. Have to try it out on the other one at the weekend. Thanks for the hint :) -
P.S.: I can see the CD symbol also now. -
Inappropriate? An upcoming build has a modification of the texture handling engine that should significantly improve graphics performance on slower graphics cards. I strongly recommend all who have replied on this thread to update as soon as possible once it is available as we would really appreciate feedback on the performance changes.
Please use the tray icon in BumpTop to send feedback about this issue if you'd be willing to help us test this.
