Beta 20 (build 2479) is now available for testing! What do you think?
You've just installed the latest build (2479) of BumpTop. What do you think?
(Hit F1 in BumpTop to find out what build you're running)
While BumpTop includes an updating mechanism, you can also manually download this update using the link in your original invite email.
If you're already a beta tester, we'd love to have you sign up as a VIP and help us test builds more often: http://bumptop.com/download/vip.php
Once you have the new build installed, please reply to this thread and let us know what you think:
Your information:
1) Your system specifications
a) CPU (keep in mind that your video card and video card driver will be the biggest determinant for performance, NOT your CPU!)
b) Video card (and if possible, video card driver version and driver date!)
c) Amount of RAM
d) OS version/service pack, 32-bit or 64-bit
e) approximate number of items on desktop and average FPS (hit F3 for this information)
You can get your video card information by running "dxdiag" from Start, Run. Click "Save All Information" and open up the text file in Notepad.
Comment on these changes, if possible, from this build:
a) Toss to Twitter and Facebook - do you like it? What can be improved?
b) Does adding/removing the Recycle Bin / My Computer / Network / Control Panel (special desktop icons) work for you? (This is confirmed working on XP, Vista, and Windows 7 build 7068 or newer - please let us know if you are having problems)
c) Non-English version of Windows users - ensure you set the BumpTop icon text font to one that supports Unicode - are you able to see your icon labels correctly?
d) We'd love to hear any other comments you might have, as well!

Brian - the invite code was already sent off last night - you should have received it. Please email us at feedback@bumptop.com if you have not received it and we can find out why it's not working.
Please do not use this thread to ask for invites.
Thanks! =) -
Inappropriate?Well i'm fairly new to your BumbTop application (installed it just a few minutes ago!).
Here's what i find so far: When i delete something and it goes to the recycle bin and i empty the recycle bin, the icon will not refresh untill i click elsewhere (the full icon still shows after being emptied untill the icon isn't selected anymore).
Also i wan't to be able to remove the facebook and twitter icons, but at the momment i can't see where to do so.
Maybe it's just my system but your application takes a lot of the rams as well, i'd love to see that changed so you wouldn't (example:) shut down BumpTop when you want to play a pc game.
I love the whole applications concept and was suprised how organized you can keep your files, i had the impression it would make my file management more messy, but thats clearly not the case, so kudos for that!
Hope you could use my input :)
I’m unsure

you should just be able to select the twitter/facebook icons and hit delete. or uncheck the box in the settings that got them there. what wer eyou trying to do?
how much RAM is BumpTop taking? -
Inappropriate?Intel Quad-Core CPU
ATI 2950 graphics chipset
8 gb RAM
Vista 64, fully updated
43 items, average FPS 105
I must be missing something. There is no way to grab an icon. Whenever you click on something, it grabs it with the mouse. Then if you click on something else, it just zooms in to a picture on a wall. I click on the Word icon and it gets the green outline showing that it is selected. I then click on the Excel icon and Word stays selected, but the camera zooms straight into a picture on the wall. I hit escape to zoom back out, and Word is still selected.
Why can't I press the mouse button on an icon, drag it, and then release the mouse button to release the icon like I can do on the standard Windows desktop? I would like to keep testing this for you, but it's pretty much a non-starter.
OK, update. When I delete all of the picture frames on the walls, the program starts working as it should. You should probably look into those picture frames. If I can reproduce the problem, I'll post more details.

Charles - let us know - love to hear back about any reproduction steps for your problem! -
such a computer!!!!!!!! -
Inappropriate?Well there's no way for me to tell how much RAMs in numbers the application took but my keyboards displey showed me 60% where avarage is about 25-40% (thats the over all RAMs used in %)
My PC runs with 2gb of RAM. Besides i couldn't just choose the twitter and facebook icons and press delete, cause thats how i thought it'd work, but to me they would only go away trough the settings.
I’m unsure

Inappropriate?Athlon 2800+.
2GB RAM.
Vista Home Basic.
Geforce 6800.
FPS: 31-58.
With AA and High Quality.
Very smooth. Works well.
-
Inappropriate?My information:
a)AMD Athlon 64 3700+ 2.21 Ghz
b) Radeon X800 - ati2dvag.dll ver. 6.14.0010.6860
c) 2 GB RAM
d) XP Pro Service Pack 3
e)137 A-FPS, 81 bump, 75 Act 2 piles, 2 Animated
Comment on these changes, if possible, from this build:
a) I hate Twitter and Facebook - They are for the internet Illiterate.
b) Before adding it through properties I added a shortcut to My Computer, it's now stuck on my desktop along with the real thing.
d) Adjusting the settings helped make it all look better at a slight FPS cost so now im around 40 FPS but everything looks crisp
Other than those, few annoyances its pretty cool. Looking forward to seeing how it improves. -
Inappropriate?Hi, I just give you two letters, the letter contains information such as my system, this is a great software, I hope I provided some information to assist you. I wish you happy every day fun.
I’m thankful

Inappropriate?Subnotebook here.
Intel Pentium M 1,6 GHz
Intel GMA 915 (128 MB shared video RAM)
512 MB DDR
WinXP Pro SP3
about 5 items on the desktop (high texture quality and AA), 12 fps average
I like the performance, but BumpTop uses far too much RAM (120MB). How can I reduce RAM usage? -

i love it.. and it works well. so beautiful, it seems that there are small cards inside a box! i shared it to my friends, as i have read 3 machines can share.i tried tossing picture on the facebook icon and its so nice. what can i request is that there could be personalization of such websites; because i'm into multiply, plurk, friendster, facebook. or if ever such tossing of notes or document to a blog spot (so cool!!!).with regards to removing and adding, there's no problem! i uncheck the box for filenames... because i dont want and sometimes i am destructed especially when icons are near to each other. -
Inappropriate?i uninstalled bumptop because im going to use the VIP version...

///////i put the quality settings all the way up for bumptop. i connect my laptop to a 47" 1080p 120hz dynamic 6,500:1 contrast ratio LCD TV via hdmi cable. after i installed bumptop and had it running, i connected the laptop's hdmi cable. after the desktop adjusted to the TV, all of the icons on my quicklaunch/start bar disapeard. when i clicked on the spaces where the icons were, they still launched, i just couldn't see them. it happened about 7 times in a row..and it doesn't restore until i reboot. maybe its my TV? not very sure. just thought id throw this out there.
i browse through my computer pretty fast so my quicklaunch is loaded. maybe you guys should design a skin [or something like that] for the start bar? lol i dono. thanks for letting me try it out. definitely gonna upgrade to the pro version.
I’m excited
