Bump Top crashed Vista on install.
When I installed Bump Top this morning on my Vista 32bit system (Gateway) and hit "finish", both my laptop screen and second monitor went white with light blue lines and froze (White screen of death?).
I restarted my system and, after and extended load time, a notice came up about openoffice accessibility and froze the computer again. After a couple of restarts and more frozen computer, I started my system in safe mode and tried to uninstall the program (figuring it to be malicious). I couldn't uninstall any part of the program in safe mode. I finally got through to some part of a functioning system and did a system restore to before program installation. On restart the computer would run, but there were still instances of the program remaining in the program files.
I think Bump Top is incredibly interesting and am dying to try it out, now that I know it's not malicious, but I certainly do not want it affecting the performance of my system. Any information/insight would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks!
Lovelace

Inappropriate?I have the same problem, except my computer now goes to black screen of death on safe mode, so basically i am skrewed. i tried starting in last known good configuration and sometimes it works but i could not uninstall anything, run a defrag, or download anything. bumptop has killed my computer and now i have to reinstall windows and i dont have my computer during final exams. thanks bumptop.
I’m pissed.

Colin, I've responded to your thread separately, since this doesn't sound like the same problem. -
Inappropriate? This sounds like a video driver problem - since starting BumpTop causes your video subsystem to stop responding. Have you tried a video driver update, as per http://bumptop.com/drivers ?
-
Sorry for the slow response - I'll keep an eye on this thread to make sure your problem is resolved ASAP. =) -
Not a problem at all! Thank you for getting in touch at all. The help is more than appreciated. As it looks for the moment, my drivers are all up to date, but I have an ATI X1150 which does not offer a lot of documentation and so I'm waiting to discuss the issue with my IT manager before I reinstall-just in case. I will keep you up to date as I progress through. thank you again! -
Inappropriate?Justin. I updated my video drivers today to the most recent version of the ATI Radeon Catalyst package, which seemed to take care of the immediate loading of the white screen of death issue, but Now that Bump top is allowed to run and visible, on load it freezes - normally on the "Loading, please wait..." screen. The farthest I made it today was to get to a "Welcome to Bum Top" dialog screen before having to restart the computer.
I have documented all the steps taken and results, but it's be written by hand (since the computer was frozen) and I have handed it over to my IT specialist (he's right into helping me work through the issues so that we can play with the product!)
I did notice that the open office notification continued to pop up when the program was trying to load and that when i was installing the software in the first place, that even though I selected "Do not load on start up" the program still loads on start up.
Let me know if there's anything else you can think of to help sort out the issues.
I look forward to hearing from you and thank you again for your amazing customer support. I'm already a loyal customer with out even having been able to run your product! it's all about the experience, eh?
All the best,
Lovelace

Hi there,
I'll speak to Winson tomorrow and see if there's anything else we can do about your situation.
But in the meantime: to stop it from loading, remove the BumpTop shortcut from your Start menu's "Startup" folder. Just go into Start, All Programs, Startup, and right click on BumpTop in there, and delete it. We don't load ourselves into the registry at all since that's quite annoying to remove. =)
Will be in touch, hopefully with some things you can try to get BumpTop working. =) -
Outstanding! I've removed the program from the computer again, just to be on the safe side, but it's great to know for the future. Could there be an error in instalation that causes the program to load in the start up menu even when I select "do not run on start up"?
I look forward to hearing from you!
have a great day! -
Inappropriate?Hey, Justin!
Any word on a fix yet?
