BumpTop 1.1 VIP - Build 3621 Now Available
A new VIP build is ready for testing. We are aiming to do a full update shortly after this VIP, which will be labelled as BumpTop 1.1. As a result, this update is primarily bugfixes, primarily based on feedback from our testers! =)
AS ALWAYS: PLEASE MAKE SURE YOU ENTER AN EMAIL ADDRESS ON CRASH DIALOGS SO WE CAN FOLLOW UP WITH YOU! Submitting crash reports is helpful, but we often need to ask a few questions, and we'd LOVE to send you an updated build to ensure a specific crash is fixed!
Some recent changes in this build:
Gesture and camera zoom improvements
Icon size and grid inconsistencies resolved
Tweaks to icon movement behaviours
Windows 7 shell commands should now be available to all users regardless of OS language
Fixing RDP detection on Vista and Windows 7
Redesigned confirmation dialog boxes for Vista and Windows 7
Better layout of widgets on desktop, resized photoframes by default
Better filename renaming behaviour (file extension is not selected)
Better handling of some crash scenarios (based on crash reports) and collecting additional telemetry data in these scenarios
Miscellaneous bug fixes
Known issue: Local photoframes will not load high resolution images if left zoomed in
VIP testers - please help!
a) Please test upgrade scenario from current public 3038 build from BumpTop.com and ensure your desktop is preserved. Note that if you're currently running a VIP build, moving BACK to 3038 will likely destroy your scene, so make sure you back up accordingly before testing.
b) We've seen some issues around saving files, especially in Office/Photoshop onto the desktop. Are you encountering any issues (duplicate icons, etc.) when you do this? If so, please email us or respond to this thread with reproduction steps so we can get the issue fixed.
c) Ensure file copying/cutting/deleting/moving to and from the desktop is reliable. Try cancelling a file copy/paste, especially when there's a name collision like when Windows asks you if you want to overwrite, skip, etc. Previously, clicking "cancel" in this case would cause duplication of file icons. Please try more scenarios out and see if any bugs remain.
d) If you have multitouch hardware, please test the gestures. We'd love to hear your feedback. Is anything broken? What do you love/hate? How reliable are the gestures for you?
e) General review of this build - given the improvements over build 3038, is it ready for a general release? Any major/serious bugs you'd like to see fixed before this update?
Thanks so much for your help, testers!
Once again, if you're not a VIP tester but would like to be, please email us at feedback AT bumptop.com with subject "VIP tester" to apply.

Sadly, I'm still seeing a series of crashes that we can fix if we had more information... but the VIP user who is using it hasn't provided their email address. -
gdude,
When you create a new sticky note on your desktop, do 2 sticky notes drop in? -
Inappropriate?Due link del tipo : "C:\Program Files\CPUID\CPU-Z\cpuz.exe" e "C:\Program Files\Canon\MyPrinter\BJMYPRT.EXE" non li trova e l' indentifica come:
BumpTop failed to launch file: C:\Users\Public\Desktop\CPUID CPU-Z.lnk (PIDL). The specified path was not found.
BumpTop failed to launch file: C:\Users\Public\Desktop\My Printer.lnk(PIDL). The specified path was not found.
Altri link presenti sul desktop funzionano per ora.

Come si vede dalle img sopra ho molte cartelle che non hanno nome.
Per far comparire il nome almeno una volta devo aprirle cosi memorizza il nome. -
This error seems to be from UAC. If you right click, choose More, then Run As Administrator... does the application work? -
Inappropriate?I had to completely un-install Bumptop in order to install this version. Still having errors with Bumptop not loading up past the widgets. The UI never loads half the time. The only way I can get it to load after it stalls is to load windows in safe mode. then restart. After the clean shutdown and restart, Bumptop loads correctly.
If I try and end the Bumptop.exe process it never quits. it stays in memory and never unloads. This is also the reason My machine never completes the shut down process either, and I have to do the whole Safe mode thing anyway.
I have looked into the error being Explorer.exe, And all the solutions I have found haven't helped this situation.
HELP PLEASE
Jon -
Jon,
Does the problem persist if all the widgets are disabled/removed? -
Yes. It doesn't matter if the widgets are disabled or not. I have had it starting up normally for only one day so far. And the only widget I have running is the one I sent your office yesterday. If you haven't received it. Please check.
I also have reset my desktop and all the piles I did have are now just folders. That has something to do with it. But that sucks for now too. I did have a good 6-8 different piles for different types of apps. -
Jon,
We're going to treat the widgets separately for now - Winson's actually looking into the issue you emailed us about. We can do patches to v1.1 as necessary to resolve these issues.
We're not seeing startup issues on our testing machines or from other Windows 7 VIP users on these forums and via email. I'll keep an eye out for reports of BumpTop taking forever to start up and we'll patch v1.1 as necessary to resolve these problems.
As it stands, we're going to push out 3644 gradually the next few days to resolve some serious bugs in 1.05 build 3038, first by updating our website download point, then eventually via the BumpTop updater. Once again, we'll continue to look into the startup and widget issues you've reported to make sure the experience is great for all of our users.
Thanks! -
Look at that, Bump just quit on me again, With no warnings either. Is there a log file I can send you guys? -
Inappropriate?Hi Jon, can you bring up Event Viewer and take a look under Windows Events > Applications (might have to right click the table columns and add "Source name") and see if there are any errors/warnings from BumpTop?
-
Nothing from Bumptop, There was only about a dozen entries, and only one was from an app that didn't come w/ windows. -
Inappropriate?Grid Views jump again when you launch an item from them.

Hi there,
If you're running a VIP build, you should have received an update notification. Otherwise, check your email for your original VIP URL - should still work fine to get the latest installer. -

Not a problem - email us at feedback at bumptop.com or send feedback via the BumpTop Tray icon with your email address and I'll send you the URL again =)
