Bumptop Icons Broken
Icons not working in new version (no idea why).
I had the icons all worked on in the last version but in the new version (just installed ver:2489) the icons no longer show up properly. See image attached, also included is the screenshot of the actual icon (unfortunately can not attach here).

Also take a look at the bump this folder, I have not been able to post it yet but you can not enable the bump this folder as the XP button does not appear when enabled.
No matter what you do this button does not show up in explorer.
Sorry had to roll back since problem was pretty big in this version even though wanted to use the new features. Looking forward to the update. -
Inappropriate?I have this problem too. Straight after upgrading to build 2489 I got a load of error boxes complaining of problems with TexHelper.dll (possibly one error per icon) and then blank icons as per Blu3Knight.
Looking forward to the fix. Great job on the app! -

What's the error you're getting? Can we get a screenshot? What OS are you running? Are you logged in as an administrator or a regular user? -
Inappropriate?I'm afraid I've already clicked through all the errors and didn't note down the exact message, I just remember the dll. I'm on Windows XP SP3, logged in as an admin. Here's a screenshot:
Restarting the app doesn't give any more errors. -

Go into the Settings tray icon and Reset your BumpTop Layout. This will erase your icon positions.
See if that causes the error again.
Can you confirm that TexHelper.exe exists inside \Program Files\BumpTop as well? -

...and plus loads of other identical errors, then BumpTop died.
TexHelper.exe does exist.
I've saved the *_appcompat.txt file that windows generates, and can provide it if that will help. -

Can you grab Procmon.exe from http://live.sysinternals.com/ ?
Fire it up, stop the capturing and clear the log. I think Ctrl+E starts the logging process again, so once you hit Ctrl+E, start BumpTop right away. Hitting Ctrl+E again will stop the capture.
Can you send us a Procmon log of the BumpTop startup process so we can see what's happening? Email it (RAR if necessary) to feedback@bumptop.com

I'm just pasting the steps for a clean re-install from another thread that seemed to help with crash issues. Can you give this a try and let us know what happens? Also, I'm not sure we got your procmon log, if you get a chance, can you send that again?
[...] can you do the following for us and see if it still occurs?
1) Move the "C:\Documents and Settings\[your computer name]\Application Data\Bump Technologies, Inc\BumpTop" elsewhere (the scene.bump file is your desktop layout)
2) Uninstall BumpTop and delete everything in "C:\Program Files\BumpTop"
3) Reinstall

No joy on the clean install, same errors. -
Inappropriate?this is my problem too! I've been just using beta 19 cause 20 doesn't work. neither does the one released today. -
Inappropriate?Can you edit your settings.json in Notepad, and look for a variable called visuals. Set that value to 3 instead of 2 and run BumpTop again to see if that helps with the crash?
The settings.json file is located here:
On WindowsXP - C:\Documents and Settings\(name)\Application Data\Bump Technologies, Inc\BumpTop\
On Windows Vista - C:\Users\(name)\AppData\Roaming\Bump Technologies, Inc\BumpTop\
These folders may be hidden.

Inappropriate?Mine was set to zero. Setting to 3 got the icons back, then the crash still occurred. 2 and 1 still crashed.
Updated to the latest version and tried the same - still no joy.
Will try a clean install. -
Inappropriate?Think I've narrowed it down: It's the photo frames.
I did a clean install of the latest version. Without photo frames (local images or flickr tags) and with visuals set to 3 there are no problems. As soon as I add a photo frame I get recurring TexHelper errors. -

Inappropriate?Hi there, I'm new to the site and recently installed BumpTop. (Build 2850)
So far I've had no running glitches or crashes, just a similar problem with distorted icons.
They end up distorted as below (Apps & folders), I've cured most by changing each icon idividually but if I move them from a tiled group, they reset to windows default & distort (even if they're custom icon in windows/explorer). Apart from this problem, all is running well and I really like using it. Thanks.

For some unknown reason everything has fixed, all the icons have reset back to originals abd are all crystal clear!
Not sure why but glitch has gone, all is working fine now. Cheers!

Inappropriate?Not to whip a dead horse, but I am currently having the exact same problem as the screen shot above. All my desktop icons (except for those added AFTER the problem occured) are tinted green and distorted. Trying to figure out how to fix this, but havent found any luck yet. Any help out there?

If you're seeing the green icons, set your video card to 32-bit.

If you're seeing the black squares, it's likely due to a 3rd party application that we're requesting thumbnails from... Adobe Acrobat 9 is problematic, but Acrobat 8 works.
Our latest VIP release (build 4310) has a fix for the Acrobat 9 issue - it doesn't fix PDF thumbnails, but it stops it from blocking BumpTop from loading other textures.
