Cheating The Odds: Bumptop (Early) On a mac
So, I'm an impatient bastard, who'd love bumptop for his mac. But, the release being set for after the PC release, I was wondering if it was possible to run bumptop through parallels or vmware, two dual booting toys for mac lovers. Any clue?

Inappropriate? It seems that both Parallels and VMware for Mac both support OpenGL, so theoretically it should work. However, we haven't tested it ourselves so no promises... if you test it out, please let us know how it goes, we'd love to know!
-
Inappropriate?Would be glad to test it. Just waiting for the open beta at this point..or an invitation to the private beta. ^_~
-
Inappropriate? It does work in Parallels but it is slow unfortunately. Its borderline usable from what I've seen, but definitely not ideal.
-
Inappropriate?any clue about vmware? Its supposed to be faster and a bit sturdier than parallels.
-
Inappropriate?I believe VMware uses DirectX hardware acceleration and BumpTop uses OpenGL so I would assume VMware only provides the brutally painful software renderer.
-
Inappropriate?ah well. Still can't wait for the beta to go public. Looks much more promising than realdesktop did.
-
It is! -
Inappropriate? Is there a time-frame for the mac version?
I got a beta invite, but yeah, mac. -
Inappropriate?Sorry, we haven't announced anything yet about the dates on a mac version. There is a mac invite list though. If you've got an invite you can signup there.
-
do you have an approximate date when the mac version is going to be ready? -
There's been no official announcements yet, but very roughly something by years end is a rough timeline. -
Inappropriate?Tried my invite for Windows in VMWare on my MacBook Pro. Totally unusable. Requires OpenGL... dang... I have been waiting for Bumptop to come out thinking I could run it in VMWare. So close, yet so far away. I have added my e-mail to the Mac list...
I’m Sad I have to continue to wait
