Inappropriate?Did you get a chance to send us a crash report? If so, we will be able to step through and debug the problem.
-
Inappropriate?winson -- how do i send a crash report? i see nothing in the options
-
Inappropriate?Sorry, I mean, did a crash dialog popup when BumpTop crashed? Submitting that dialog will send along a dump of the crash.
If not, then can you check for a file called "Bump.dmp" in the following directories and send that along to feedback@bumptop.com?
If you are on WindowsXP: C:\Documents and Settings\<your>\Application Data\Bump Technologies, Inc\BumpTop
Otherwise, if you are on Windows Vista: C:\Users\<your>\AppData\Roaming\Bump Technologies, Inc\BumpTop\Themes
</your></your> -
Inappropriate?no -- BumpTop crashed, the old desktop displayed, no dialog box. there is not such folder in my vista c:\ drive. and no bump.dmp file. what next?
-
Inappropriate?Every vista machine should have an application data folder (other BumpTop itself wouldn't be able to startup). It seems like GS ate a part of the path there, it should say
C:\Users\<your name="true">\AppData\Roaming\Bump Technologies, Inc\BumpTop
where you put your user name into the specified part of the path.
However, if there is still no Bump.dmp, then do you have any more information about what happened after the crash? Did you get any other dialogs? And which screensaver are you using?
The more information we have, the better we'll be able to track down the problem.</your> -
Inappropriate?I went to C:\Users\MYNAME\AppData\Roaming\Bump Technologies, Inc\BumpTop\Themes. that contains another folder "default". Under the default folder are these folders: core, desktop, override, slideshow and widgets. no bump.dmp anywhere here.
sorry, no dialog box. When the windows screen saver comes up, requiring my password, bumptop crashes. that's all i know. -
Inappropriate?Ok, how about one level up from the Themes folder? Anything there? We'll give it a test on this side as well -- is it happening every single time you drop out of the screensaver mode?
-
Inappropriate?not there either. yes, every time screensaver comes on, bumptop crashes.
-
Inappropriate?Screen saver continually crashes bumptop. This sucks, dude! I love bumptop, i hate crashes!
I’m incredibly crunchified!
-
Inappropriate?I bet that the Screensaver you are using uses OpenGL for the Graphics rendering. In this case, it is hit or miss for what the scene calls on the screensaver are.
Can you let me know the screensaver and I will see if that is the problem.
Thanks.
I’m in a helpful mood
-
Inappropriate?I don't know. It's the Aurora screensaver that comes with Vista.
-
Inappropriate? The Auroa screensaver uses DirectX 9, So I don't think that it would be a conflict in OpenGL.
What about your Graphics Adaptor, What is it and Are you using custom drivers or Factory Drivers? -
Inappropriate?NVidia GeForce 8600M GT. Factory drivers.
-
Inappropriate?Any progress on this? Screen saver crashes my BumpTop constantly.
Please -- I LOVE MY BUMPTOP -- now my son is using it, too, he loves it.
Fix the screen saver issue, please! -
Inappropriate?Well the Aura screensaver works fine on my machine while running Bumptop, I have a GeForce 6150 go series with 1GB shared memory. Your GPU is far superior to mine. I am leaning towards something that you may have that is unique to your situation.
I would have to see most of the programs you have installed as well as your system configuration to better diagnose the problem.
You can e-mail me at electrikjesus@msn.com and I will be happy to go over the problem with you.
I’m still feeling creative.
