Furniture anyone??
How about the option to add furniture. For example, add a Fridge and stick icons to it like we all do at home. Or a table, with icons resting on it. Or a lamp, to add lighting dynamics to the room.

Inappropriate?I love the idea!
It also would be great to use user contributed items from google sketchup, like mentioned in some other threads before. So everyone could build ones own individual desk ... sorry ... bumptop ;) -
Inappropriate?3d furniture
the building of furniture would be really cool, i don't know about using sketchup for that, but maybe just picking standard furniture and adding a texture to it, i also really like the idea of having a light source so you can see shadows and glares and such. -
Inappropriate?Been posted some days ago... would go down to
- putting cubes to the desktop (or walls) to put the icons and stuff on
- putting a cabinet to the desktop to put icons on and into
-
Inappropriate? All this talk on having furnitures and appliances makes me soo happy!
I’m SOOO HAPPY.

Inappropriate?Keep in mind that things like this may not be included in the final release. I bet there will be a plug-in system for developers, but I highly doubt the team would go so far as to make an official refrigerator when the point of Bumptop is to mimic a desk, not a kitchen. It is a good idea, some would absolutely love it, I for one just thought of a little coffee pot that's also an alarm for different events because you know, coffee fuels everything, but it's a novelty, not a necessity. I'd rather have a working, stable version of Bumptop than a buggy refrigerator-ed version. ;)

Inappropriate?Hmm that is true but i'm not sure about the pricing on this for final release. As I would feel, this programme is a 'great to have', not a 'need to have'. They could consider promoting it to Microsoft!
It would revolutionize the world of desktops and possibly compete with Macs of the world. Oh well.
If there are too many fridges, couches, and the works..even a dog to fetch your RSS feeds, it would begin to look like The Sims.
It's in my opinion quite stable, with some kinks to iron out which should be fast.

Inappropriate?I agree that BumpTop is a "cool, new desktop" but don't you guys think that things like this lose their charm after a while? (Everything except people)
They do for me.
Like the dontclick.it interface. That was an innovation but people aren't willing to accept it full time.
But, of course, everyone has hos/her own point of view.
Cheers to BumpTop developers. -
Inappropriate? It's true about the dontclick.it interface. I visited it to be impressed by their innovation, but only to be bored after 10 minutes.
There's no immediate on-the-millisecond feedback at all.
Response on the site is about slightly below a second, but it's not enough for the human brain to work effectively.
And yes I agree with you on the people part - we are ever changing (save for those who are permanantly boring).
Hmm and my BT desktop is getting messier as the days go by...
Maybe there could be a left-click option which allows for auto-arranging of files in grid - for those who still do miss the normal organised way of the current desktop.

Inappropriate?Wow...total agreement! Thats very nice of you.
I think the effect you want can be achieved by the BumpTop Infinity mode.
I’m happy that some one agrees with me.
