i have bad performance but have a powerful system

I have a Q9450 cpu, with 2x 9800GTX+ running 178.15 nvidia drivers (can't run any newer atm due to compatibility issues) and i am getting horrible frames per second when using bump top especially compared to my work computer which is a Q6600 using ATI x1900 with drivers from like 1 year ago.

This is a freshly formatted system with windows Vista 64bit, SP1, display drivers as explained and mainboard drivers. and nothing else installed.
