Install quits after 'Gathering Required Information' progress bar completes...
While attempting to install the latest Bumptop Free, it simply closes after the progress window 'Gathering Required Information' finishes. It also does this when starting Bumptop and clicking Yes to the upgrade question. I'm using 2646 attempting to upgrade to 3038... should I simply uninstall first? Barring that, why is this happening? Any reported dangers to uninstallation?
Thanks,
J

Inappropriate?Hi there,
You can safely uninstall. BumpTop stores your desktop information in your Windows profile.
http://download.bumptop.com/BumpTopIn... is the link to the latest released installer (build 3038) so you can uninstall and install with this installer manually.
Let me know if you run into any problems!

Inappropriate? Thanks for the reply. In the end I was able to install the latest version of Bumtop, but not before jumping a couple of hurdles. For reference purposes, I'll take you through the problem.
When attempting to install the newest version, after having uninstalled via Programs and Features in Vista, I received the following error:
"There is a problem with this Windows Installer package. A program required for this install to complete could not be run. Contact your support personnel or package vendor."
I thought maybe it wasn't compeltely uninstalled so I ran a registry editor(RegSupreme Pro) and noticed Bumptop still in its programs list. I uninstalled using that, which essentially acts as if it's manually deleting associated registry keys, bypassing the need for Windows Uninstaller. This usually works, however in this case it did not. I still had the same error.
Googling the issue I came upon a tool released by Microsoft to clean up damaged or uncleared fragments of program information, called Windows Installer CleanUp Utility, available here - http://support.microsoft.com/default.... - I noticed Bumptop in its list and removed it. This worked and I was able to install the latest Bumptop build just fine, which I must say runs about 3x as fast as the version I previously used.
Thanks and keep up the good work.
