Just some questions/suggestions
Hi just got the invite recently and I must say, Bumptop is awesome!!!!
Just some thoughts here upon first using Bumptop:
1.) I found that when Bumptop loaded the folders had reverted back to the original windows folder icons. I had custom icons on the folders. Is there a way that Bumptop can keep these settings?
2.) Also, is there any way I can quickly minimize Bumptop to the windows interface without manually exiting Bumptop?
3.) And what would be cool is if you were able to pick up the icons in Bumptop. Like say if you held right click on an icon it would be "picked up" and you can just throw it around over a bunch of icons without disturbing them. I like bumping icons around but when I need to move them to certain place I need to find a path. It would be really helpful and cool if you were able to pick it up off the floor.
4.) And also I've noticed that when you're "bumping" icons around on Bumptop it doesn't feel very real. The icons are delayed when you move them around quickly and when you throw them there is a threshold to the slide - there shouldn't be a point where you have to pass in order for it to slide around it - it should be able to slide around slow very easily. There should just be a more natural feel to throwing and moving around the icons. To me they seem really jerky when they move.
5.) Also, Object Dock should be compatible with Bumptop. It's all glitchy when I run in in Bumptop. I can't use it at all. 2 GREAT PROGRAMS should go hand in hand! Or an even better idea, is to integrate some kind of icon management system into Bumptop like in Object Dock.
6.) How about a way to save the layout of the Bumptop icons and photos etc you have in Bumptop. That way you can just mess it all up for fun and load it again! =)
7.) I've also noticed that when you pin a pile of icons/folders onto the wall and exit and reload Bumptop they fall down!
8.) And also, when you double click the walls switching between them isn't possible. Like say if you double click the wall directly in front of you and you try switching to the side walls and then switching to the back walls or to the front again it just zooms back out to the default view. You should be able to switch between them endlessly without being zoomed out to the overhead view.
9.) 3d icons!!!
10.) Or a way to flip images back to front like on this site for the Cloverfield movie: http://www.1-18-08.com/
(You flip it back to front by making a a quick sideways flick back and forth)
Then you could write stuff on the back.
11.) When choosing a picture to select for the photo frame instead of the list view it would be much easier and helpful if we had the option of viewing the folders and pictures in thumbnail or icon view. Because right now it's very hard to locate a certain picture (we need to know the file name).

A picture of my desktop using the program Real Desktop. Note the red circle indicates an icon being picked up off the floor and the red arrows points to Object Dock Plus which does not clash with Real Desktop. The physics of dragging and throwing objects around in Real Desktop is also, if I can say, much smoother and less jerky than Bumptop at the moment. Now I heard somewhere that Real Desktop in fact copied Bumptop? Is this true? And that you are taking legal action?

Inappropriate?I got Real Desktop as well. I don't think they copied bumptop (3D Desktop is the obvious next level of GUI, so they might simply have had the same idea even earlier than Bumptop).
3) I heavily miss the pick-up, too
4) Yup, the Real-Desktp is smoother, their engine is faster.
5) I don't like object Dock... and I think you shold be able to build cooler things with a 3D-Desktop :)
6) Another cool feature of Real Desktop...:)
9) Yeay!
Comparison between the two programs is difficult... but bumptop should really adjust their icon physics. And they should get shorter Key-shotcuts (like Real Desktop: shift-move-mouse: resize, Alt-left-click on differen icons: stack them, Ctrl-left-click: fix (pin) them.
Most thing I miss: Fixing Icons to a position, so you cannot drag em anywhere! Some important things must be ALWAYS on the same position in the desktop, so you can find em fast! -
Inappropriate?Yeah I agree with you Seeker.
Real Desktop just has a lot smoother physics. But Bumptop is still in its beta!
Hopefully when the final version it out it won't be so jerky and you can lock icons down!!!
and of course, 3D ICONS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Real desktop is also cool because you can drag a bunch of icons into the corner and hold them there and let go and they'll explode like a volcano haha.
I like playing around with both of them. Real Desktop is more real, with better physics while Bumptop is unpredictable haha weird stuff happens all the time.
