mail widget beta
Hi!
I saw a topic where someone asked for widget that checks for new mails, and if u get one it shows on your desktop as real mail. So I tried to make it, and here is what I have done so far

Inappropriate?I can't really test it. Will you make it hotmail compat?
-
Inappropriate?is it written for gmail, pop3, smtp, imap or http mail?
-
I see some of the code is written for gmail. But I can't seem to get it to work -
Inappropriate? If you could expand on the mail functions, I have some graphics for a kick ass mail client for the Bumptop UI. I would be willing to share.

Inappropriate?it's for pop3
damn just tested on gmail, it's not working :(
all my tests I made on local mail service in my country and it's worked fine..
I havn't found a good mail library for c# NET. yesterday I found one free library and this is what I have done in one day. :)
widget thats reads mail from server that no one uses :D
I’m sad

Nice work so far. But don't give up yet. If it works for another mail you probably need to change some settings and it will work. Maybe you could use Fetchmail or something similar as a temporary solution? Here is an article to make Fetchmail work in Windows. Unfortunately it requires Cygwin and you will need to fetch data from mbox format. -
Inappropriate?nice
-
Let me know if you can use them -
Inappropriate?updated with gmail support
there is problem with mails that have big attachments
but at least now it connects to gmail :)
I’m happy
-
Inappropriate?Works great!
Maybe you should put a warning somewhere, that it might take a while to start for the first time, if you have a lot of old mail. It took about half an hour. :)
I’m thankful
-
Inappropriate?I haven't gotten it to work right on my machine. I got past the initial hour long load up. then each time it loads up. it minimized a gray box to the desktop, since I have a window management widget running for bumptop. I think you should just hide the window. not minimize it.
I haven't gotten it to drop any mail either. I tried to send myself a few things. But it could be my gmail forwarding settings.

Inappropriate?did u change POP settings in gmail?
widget will see only new messages that u have received after changing POP setings -
I triple checked my gmail POP settings. And just in case I set all my forwarding settings to leave copies in my gmail inbox. -
Inappropriate?is there oldmails.txt file in widget directory and is there anything in it?
and what about options.config file is there written correct settings for your accaunt
did u check ssl checkbox?
tomorrow I will have more free time, maybe I will find some time to test it more
I made this update at night maybe I missed something :)
what operating system u are using?
and sorry for my bad english -
Inappropriate?while I was walking home from my job I think I understud why it's not working for u. U mentioned that it was loading about a hour for u, so that is the problem, its too slow...
I will try something out -
Inappropriate?I tried deleting the widget. then re-installing then setting up the gmail account settings. Yes I did use SSL Here is the Box I get when it loads up now:
I can't make the box minimize either. It stays on top of the screen.
It loads up fine now. I have 4 unchecked mail in my inbox, Although I still don't get any notices on Bumptop.
I am using Win7 64bit.
I hope this all helps.
