New Beta 19 Build 2241 - Let us know what you think!
A new beta build, Beta 19 (build 2241) is now available for testing for VIP testers.
Regular beta testers will receive this update this coming Tuesday (24th of February).
While BumpTop includes an updating mechanism, you can also manually download this update using the link in your original invite email.
If you're not yet a beta tester, but want to be, see this post:
http://getsatisfaction.com/bumptop/to...
If you're already a beta tester, we'd love to have you sign up as a VIP and get this build now/sooner: http://bumptop.com/download/vip.php
Once you have the new build installed, please reply to this thread and let us know what you think:
1) Your system specifications
a) CPU (keep in mind that your video card and video card driver will be the biggest determinant for performance, NOT your CPU!)
b) Video card (and if possible, video card driver version!)
c) RAM
d) OS version/service pack, 32-bit or 64-bit
e) approximate number of items on desktop and average FPS (hit F3 for this information)
2) What you like
3) What you want fixed/changed
4) Any other comments, write a short general review, etc..
Once again, if there are specific bugs/issues that you're experiencing, please right click on the BumpTop folder and choose Send Feedback so we can properly track the issue, and collect the necessary pre-requisite system information to help you. Do NOT email feedback directly unless you are unable to start BumpTop altogether.
Thanks everyone!

Inappropriate?Hello!
My sytem:
AMD Athlon 64 X2 2,2 ghz
ATI HD 2600XT
2 GB Ram
Windows Xp 32 bit
115 Bump objects
anti aliasing: enable
11 piles
every time around 34 FPS
I think the perfomance is very good, but some features i had seen in an (old) video aren`t in this beta. Why?
I’m happy

Anand has previously spoken about other missing features: http://getsatisfaction.com/bumptop/to... -
Inappropriate?Hi, guys/girls!
ASUS M51,
CPU: T8300, 2.4Ghz
3GB RAM,
ATI HD3470 256MB, driver: ATI Catalyst 8.1. 7.14.10.0555
VistaPremium 32bit.
Anti-aliasing enabled
Vsync enabled
2048 pixel texture size
Max Average FPS 46
Bump Objects 76
Piles 6
Actors 70
I like BUmpTop a lot, otherwise I would not be a VIP or even use it. So better talk about problems.
Problems:
-clicking on an object on the wall and holding the mouse button drops the object to the floor. If double clicking the object it still slides down over time.
-for some piles the rendering of the sides of the piles is still not good (check in the enclosed image piles named "Work R" and pile in top right corner, as well as the pile with winamp files)
-a sticky note on my desktop does not show the text right, the text is outside the bounds of the sticky not and not all of the text is visible. I have to increase the size of the sticky note significantly before the text is inside.
-not a fan of shadows around single objects on the "table", do you ever see single sheets of paper on table cast shadow? With the shadow it looks like the objects are floating above the table, which is not very realistic.
Keep up good work, people! You are fabulous!
Sergey,
Zurich
I’m happy and hopeful

Inappropriate?Desktop:
Intel Core 2 Duo 3 Ghz
Nvidia 8800GTS and
ATI Radeon Xpress 1200 512 mb, Dual screens
2Gb DDR3 553
Windows XP x86 32bit SP3
Average Fps 64
107 objects
7 Piles
Laptop
Intel core 2 Duo 2,4
Nvidia (cant remember the mobile card) 512Mb ram
1 GB DDR2
Windows XP x86 32bit SP3
I have been using the beta for a long time and usualy it runs on my laptop that i bring to work. I am a live sound engineer so it get used alot and looked at even more.
The only hatch i can find worth mentioning is the lag of standard icon support in non english versions of windows as i often need a trash bin on my desktop and i never got it showing.
Else i don't belive i will go back to using the old Explorer and hopefuly if i can get the ram ussage of it to reduce to a minimum. i will for sure be a costumer to bumptop in the future.
Other than that i am testing it with Linux (KDE display manager as it will not show on Gnome) and it looks to be prommising.
I’m null

Inappropriate?Once you have the new build installed, please reply to this thread and let us know what you think:
1) Your system specifications
a) Intel T8300 @ 2.4 GHz
b) NVIDIA GeForce 8600M GT, latest drivers
c) 4GB
d) Vista 32-bit
e) 140 objects, Average FPS: 27
2) I like the feel of it... in the beginning it is addictive to play with and to be honest counter-productive - I have a friend who returned to his regular desktop because of that reason - although cool, bumptop just wasn't useful to him. To me it is great... since I don't play around as much anymore.
3) There is more to be done in terms of improving productivity - I like the idea of having bookshelves. Also, I like circles better for some reason - Grid into a circle (?) - maybe as an option in the settings for a default way to grid.
Also, expanding piles outside the borders of the desktop makes them do strange things - often they fly up and behave violently.
I double on the sticky note problem. I don't like splitting words either - that's not what people do when writing on a note - most would reduce the size of their letters... so maybe reduce the font size?
I love bumptop - gives me a real feel of my computer... Keep it up!

Inappropriate?P.S. Average FPS changed to 40 after me playing around with it. And FPS are at a constant 59 with Bumptop taking up 50% of my resources. That has happened a couple of times before. Restarting the program... The splash screen still shows beta 18 although it is the new build :)

Inappropriate?I can't look up my specs, I love the intro tut, nice job, and the menus are much faster!
My biggest disappointment is that the borders of my windows still disappear, when this happens, it completely mucks up my skinning app and as a result i don't use Bumptop since I can't even see it normally. PLEASE FIX! D: -
Hey,
I'd really appreciate it if you could go to Start, Run, dxdiag, and click Save All Information. Copy and paste in your OS version, CPU, RAM, video card model and driver version and date.
Appreciate your help! -
Inappropriate?a) Mobile AMD sempron 3000+
b) Silicon Integrated Systems M760GX ver 6.14.10.3654
c) 384MB ram
d) XP HOME SP3
e) 61 objects, Average FPS: 25
2) I really enjoy the fanning of folders, helps with icon sorting quite a bit. Slideshows work wonderfully.
3) Bumptop has issues with my laptop going into hibernation, all images come back as if they were set for 800x600 and bound to 640x480 icons. Even the desktop image isnt scaled properly. I agree with the stickynote problem, although i dont use them much. I would love to see a multiple clock feature as i am currently using a third party program to view multiple timezones. would like to have the 'crumple,' 'fold,' 'springy selection,' 'pigtail menu,' 'fish eye,' 'drag'n'cross' and 'exploding piles' returned to bumptop, they were cool features.
-
Don't forget that some features in the original demo will not be in Bumptop, that was Anand's test to push the limits, and it is not concrete evidence of what will be in Bumptop. :) -
Anand has previously spoken about other features: http://getsatisfaction.com/bumptop/to... -
Inappropriate?@Justin Ho
Hey, I can't copy and paste it, I'm sending the DxDiag.txt as an attachment to feedback@bumptop.com, I hope that works for you. :)
It'd be way more specific than I am, either way. :P
