new bumptop constantly crashing, resetting to default TERRIBLE
bumptop crashes and when restarted, is in default, I have to rearrange the desktop again. this has happened 3 times in only one morning.

If you find BumpTop is crashing with 3018 installed, you have no icons or BumpTop keeps losing your settings and icon placements/piles:
a) Make sure you're running the fixed 3018 build. Hitting F1 on the desktop will show the build number.

Uninstall any version you have, and make sure "BumpTop" does not exist in your c:\Program Files anymore.
b) Clear your BumpTop cache folder by deleting "cache" folder here:
Vista: \Users\(user)\AppData\Roaming\Bump Technologies, Inc\BumpTop
XP: \Users\(user)\Local Settings\Application Data\Bump Technologies, Inc\BumpTop
c) If problem persists, find the scene.bump and scene.bump.bak (hidden file) in the same path and delete them both
d) Delete your settings.json file in the same path.

Inappropriate?I got this same problem. It came up with a bunch of errors one day, something about Watson crashing. After that the settings no longer stayed and the desktop constantly reset. Icons no longer load. Also, sometimes bumptop won't load the desktop and it just stays black unless I hit the reset button, which is like a 50/50 chance of crashing bumptop.
Never had any issues before this update either.

Tried it, still get no icons loading. Whenever I pile by type all I see are shadows, don't get any icons.

Does resetting the scene help? If you go into Settings, and click Reset BumpTop Layout, does that fix the scene problem?

The icons work outside of piles, but as soon as I create a pile they dissapear.
Also when using fan out they display really dark, you can see the outline of the icon, but they are practically black.
Flipping through them also doesn't display anything, just a shadow -
Interesting. Can you close BumpTop and find your BumpTop settings folder?

Delete the cache folder in that directory, then restart BumpTop and see if that helps. -

Inappropriate?I haven't had any crashing problems, but this morning after I rebooted my computer, all my icons were laid out in a grid, rather than the haphazard piles I had created. I downloaded the new version and haven't had any problems in at least 3 minutes since installing it.
