Show labels and file names on a per icon basis or in speech bubble on mouse over

It would be nice to be able to display labels or file names on an individual basis. I like the names turned off, yet if I have two word docs I am working on I would like to be able to label them and leave them in the corner. OR perhaps have the label show up in a speech bubble on a mouse over.
