Show network as a room, also multiple desktops
I am a graduate student in NUS: SoC. What I have in mind is that, you should incorporate a networking facility too. In such facility, documents moving through the network is facilitated by picking up a file, moving the mouse cursor into the destination desktop (destination monitor). It will be similar to passing documents from one's desk to his friend's desk in the real world.
You should also support multiple desktop within one PC. It will be similar to a student having a desk in his study room and in his bed room. He can move a book from here to there.

Inappropriate?Maybe you could use doors or windows in the walls to symbolize other network members.

Inappropriate?Great idea! Other connected computers should at least be shown as widgets, if not separate desktops. Multiple desktops could be a bit harsh on the GPU, but maybe if we make it on like different surfaces? I personally suggest making a bar at the bottom that will be always on top. This way, you can always find the files you're working on.
