There are SO MANY uses for an interface like this. In order to clear up confusion for new users, It would be a good idea to post a sticky or send out a newsletter of the 20 most useful posts. This way the user has most of their questions answered immediately, vs searching for an hour and giving up only to post a question that has been answered already.
