thumbnails, esp. for text files

Hey so my bump top doesn't give me a thumbnail for PDF's or word docs. Is that because I have the free (non-pro) version? If I get the pro version, will it give me thumbails for text files also? How about text files that do not have the .txt extension (example: xml files, etc)?
