Inappropriate? All VIP invites have been sent out now - and the download link has been activated. Again - please email us at feedback@bumptop.com if you HAVE NOT received your invite email, and we'll send you a link =).
-
Can you email us at feedback@bumptop.com? -
Inappropriate?already did twice, i'm doing it an other time...
-
Gotcha - then you have the download link =). We will push out a multitouch version for Windows 7 soon. If you install the current VIP, you will be prompted to update once we release the next VIP. -
tanks you, hope it will happend fast because i think that multitouch with bumptop is the ultimate desktop solution... -
Inappropriate?Where and in what format would you like the feedback on the VIP build? Due to the fact that the community-page has no subforum-structure I guess that bug-reports, fixes and comments about a version that many users can't access would confuse people if plainly posted in the forum.
Are reports supposed to go directly here? In that case I can already inform you that the latest build fixed the overlaying texts in the circular right-click menu for me (Windows Xp SP3 & Intel 915 GM).
-
Feel free to post here - we'd like to hear from all the testers. This build will be released in the next 2 days to all users unless serious problems are discovered.
If you are NOT a Pro user, please test this build in Free mode.
Pro users: feel free to enter in your Pro code into this VIP build to get access to all the features. -
Inappropriate?I have signed up for these kinds of vip releases two times and never got a mail. Whats up with that?
I’m frustrated
-
Inappropriate? What are those "minor fixes" ?
-
I will post more details below. -
Inappropriate?A changelog would surely help the testing. That way we could apply reasoning to the testing.
Meanwhile I found a couple of bugs with the german localization:
- The shortcuts shows in the circular context menu read "Ctrl+X" (Ctrl as in control) while german keyboards use the abbrevation "Strg" (as in Steuerung).
- The titles of the two tabs "General" and "Icons and Physics" in the settings menu weren't translated.
- In the settings menu there are several entries that are too long to fit into the window. Wordwrapping isn't enabled and the window is not resizable, thus some texts can't be read and in the "General" tab under "Network" a button is actually almost pushed outside of the visible area.
I get three too long entries in the settings menu: The "Bump this folder" and the aforementioned "Use proxy settings from Internet Explorer" line which both reside in the "General" tab and under "Graphics" the line "Use windows previews [...]" are all too long. -
Awesome bug list =) Thanks for pointing all of these out! -
These cosmetic localization problems are also affecting the Spanish language. -
"Icon & Physics" tab title is not translated in Chinese. -
Inappropriate?the scroll wheel doesn't work with this release under Windows Seven RC, you can't flip through a pile like in a book, even if you choose the option first in the right click menu...
I’m frustrated
-
Hi there,
This is a known problem currently - we're hoping to have a refresh build out in the next day or so that will fix this problem. -
ok tks a lot, thrilled to test that... -
fixed in 3018 -
Inappropriate?1. Create a new sticky note (use default text)
2. Shrink it one time.
Look! Part of text is outside the note. I have not seen this before but I could be wrong.
I’m anxious
-
I have the same issue (and with any text, not just the default one) -
Hi guys - yeah, our international text printing logic (allowing us to do what Windows does - display all languages without a font change) does this right now... we're probably going to fix this in the next update since we're eager to get the international languages out there. -
fixed in 3018 -
Inappropriate?- Fixed some resolution detection problems (sizing of BumpTop did not fill screen) for some users.
- Mouse and keyboard behaviour may have changed slightly - some changes have been made for multi-touch and camera positioning features that are not yet active, but may cause regressions with clicking on the screen, searching while typing, scrollwheel, etc. Please report anything you find.
- Hit Ctrl+Backspace (enable debug keys) then hold down Ctrl+Shift while clicking on the floor... or use the scroll wheel. The keyboard keys W A S D should also move the camera around - report any bugs you discover with this function.
- Native language speakers should verify all translations. Let us know of strings that are mis-translated or untranslated.
- Fixed international font rendering support - should be able to display all languages without explicitly specifying a native font/changing the font settings.
- Fixed activation issue with some machines related to a bug in hardware detection.
- New installer and new installer script to support international languages. Reduce download size, but may cause migration/upgrade issues from older versions, and/or issues upgrading in the future. (We will test this shortly, since we have a refresh build to 3015 that will be released...)
- New updater location for this build to support additional server-side updater functionality that is not yet active.
- Change in usage statistics uploader module to reduce hanging while transmitting files and to reduce server-side load. (Pre-emptive answer to questions, since each time we bring this up, there are people who are concerned: We have always collected this information as per our EULA. This file contains usage information like how much time you use BumpTop, how many piles you have on your desk, what kind of video card you have, etc. but NO PERSONALLY IDENTIFIABLE INFORMATION. Since BumpTop is free for everyone, we ask for this information in return to improve BumpTop)
- Updated statistics module to compute Windows version (Vista Ultimate, Vista Home Basic, etc.) as well as to report BumpTop version (Pro vs. Free)
- Moved statistics and Send Feedback to HTTP-based transmission - sending feedback was unreliable before since it used SMTP. -
Thanks Justin for the changelog. It ́s good to know everything in detail to test it properly.
One question; The resolution detection problem. Were there specific resolutions that had this problem? -
Inappropriate?I just realized that my build is not 3015 rather 3011. Should I be
able to update if I restart ?
I have tried restarting BumpTop but no update is installed.
Same for you MachineGun? -
same for me, but the installer is the 3015, and i don't know if they forgot to change the name in the about tab or if tey have just changed the name of the installer ^^ -
Sorry for the confusion. 3011 is the latest. We have to stagger the numbers to ensure our updating process does not break between VIP refresh builds. -
Inappropriate?Build 3018 VIP refresh is now live.
Changelog:
- New installer process, reduces download size
- Full international support to display Unicode languages automatically without settings/fonts changes.
- Application now translated into German, Spanish, French, Italian, Japanese, Portuguese, Russian, Korean and Chinese
- Minor bug fixes including screen resolution detection and activation on some hardware.
Known issues:
- If installer appears to hang, ensure that setup dialog is not minimized. This will be during the language selection phase of setup.
- If you are running build 2915 or later, you may need to uninstall before
- Not all strings have been translated in Settings.
- Text wrapping with stickynotes and dialog boxes may be be problematic due to international language changes.
- Updater dialog boxes still pop up on top when new update is received - this will be fixed in the next update.
VIP users should install this update and report any problems. -
Inappropriate?I sent a bug couple bug reports already and am currently sending a video of one of the errors.
So far the Desktop Background doesn't show correctly if changed while Bumptop is running. And I keep getting the crash from changing the icons x amount of times.
But other than that it works great.
-
Jon, thanks for the reports. We'll take a look the next few days. -
same for me, as I double clic on the picture at the first step -

Thanks for letting us know - we'll get that fixed. -
Anyone else getting this crash? Can you guys send the Bump.dmp file from your profile directory when this happens? Email to feedback@bumptop.com -
A 2nd refresh of build 3018 has been uploaded that fixes the tutorial crashing and missing image during the tutorial. Please use the original download link again, delete your settings.json file and confirm that the problem is fixed. -
Inappropriate?Although support unicode display, version 3018 still do not support the front which named in Chinese characters.
I’m lol
-
Hi there,
What do you mean? What is not supported? -
Oh, I mean I have some font files were named in Chinese. Such as "華康粗鋼筆體". And I cannot select these kind of font in the Theme setting. :| -
Inappropriate? While checking "Bump! This folder", it always show up the message:
"Windows cannot find 'PostExec.exe'. Make sure you typed the name correctly, and then try again."
My OS is Windows 7 RC 7100
Ver 3018 -
check the faq, you have to reg a dll to enable it properly... -
This comment was removed on 05/15/09.
see the change log -
well i don't know, i'm not working for bumtop, but this feature is still an experiment so i'm not sure they want everybody to enable it... -
I've followed the faq. I think it might be the problem of Win 7. However, I believe this function will be fixed when it officially revealed!:D -
well when you reg the dll, the option shows up in the toolbar, but you can't use it, it doesn't do anything... I think they are working on it... -
Inappropriate?but the bump this folder still doesn't work with 3018
-
Inappropriate?and when you said that in the next release, MT functions will be enable, and that Ntrig users will have some advanced features, what about those who actually have a real multitouch hardware, and not simply something forced by a ntrig driver ?
I’m excited
-
Any device that is supported as a multitouch device in Windows 7 will work with BumpTop. We are building on the Windows 7 SDK.
We are also looking into having additional support for multitouch that uses more than 2 points of touch - something that nTrig devices are able to support. -
i have a device who allows the maximum number of points, I can have 255 inputs, i've set it on 20 but i can have more... -
Cool =). If Windows 7 will support it as a multitouch device, BumpTop should work with it! -
great I think I will enjoy it so much... Do you think the bump this folfer option will wrok soon ? Because that would just be great with multitouch... -
Bump This Folder continues to be a problem - we do not have immediate plans to fix this feature for 2 main reasons:
a) the interaction between the main BumpTop windows and Explorer's BTF window is not seamless even with the plugin. We're looking at other ways of doing this.
b) Shell interaction is problematic and some backend work has to be done for thumbnail caching, etc. which is not yet working. Therefore, until these other problems are fixed, BTF will not function reliably. -
and is it possible to have this feature enable, even if it is not stable... (plugins ?) -
We've opted to push development forward with multitouch support and other interaction improvements before tackling the BumpThisFolder/Explorer integration problem. So we should see an update of this in version 2.x, but probably not before then. -
ok then, waiting for this 1.05 R see what I can do with multitouch... I keep you in touch... -

Inappropriate? The characters in Sticker becomes so weird if there are Chinese characters in the Sticker. The gaps between characters and characters would become so wide.
I’m sad
-
Hi there, can we get a screenshot? You can post here or email to feedback@bumptop.com. Can you also include a screenshot of your Regional settings showing which keyboard layout you have active/installed on your machine? -
Inappropriate? Is it normal that when I double click on bumptop desktop, the gadgets from windows sidebar disapear ? It would be better if they stay on top, isn't it ?
I’m happy
-
Inappropriate?the tutorial works perfectly with the second version of the 3018 build.
I’m confident
-
Inappropriate?there is a bug with one icon. After the tuto, when bumptop starts, the Media Center icon that I have on my desktop don't show up. I just have to close buumptop and relaunch it to see it...
BUT the configuration panel icon doesn't show up at all.... even when I restart bumptop...
-
Right click on your desktop, Personalize, and Change Desktop Icons. Uncheck and apply, then recheck the control panel icon, and see if that makes it appear?
I think we've seen this problem before - only the Recycle Bin detection works reliably with Windows 7. -
already tried this... it is not very important but still an issue to fix... -
Cool - will try to get the Control Panel in Windows 7 fixed for next update (v.1.05) -
Inappropriate?2 Bugs to add. I am using Windows 7 RC1.
1) Whenever I startup bumptop, it adds an icon to the taskbar (see image). The button is useless and takes up space unnecessarily.
2) If using the automatic desktop background switcher in Windows 7 (which is enabled by default), the bumptop background does not change when the windows background changes. Assuming you elect for BT to use your windows bg as your BT desktop, this is annoying when my 2nd monitor shows the background switch and my main monitor remains stagnant until restarting BT.
That's all, so far.
-
for the first bug, i think it is because you enable the title in the taskbar.
I don't have this problem since i'm not displaying (default option) the title of the apps in the taskbar... it is still a bug but now the know where from it comes...
for the second, the problem is the same while using a animated desktop with dreamscene and deskscape... they will work on it I hope... -
My roommate have the first problem, too. He is using the default option of the task bar. So I don't think there are any relation between the setting of the task bar and the first problem.
By the way, my roommate have the first problem in ver. 2859 and ver.3018. He reinstalled BumpTop several times and the problem still there. -
This is a known problem in Win 7 RC (7100). With each build, the Explorer behaviour appears to be changing slightly. So we'll be watching subsequent builds, and we'll get this fixed up by Win7 RTM. -
To Justin Ho: Do you mean the first problem(Task bar)?? Although my roommate have the first problem, I don't have the problem on my Win 7 RC (7100). -
Inappropriate? As the question I mentioned before, I add an image here the illustrate my question.

There are two stickers in the image. They are using the same font setting. But the spacing between characters and characters are a little different obviously. It is not really a big problem. But this problem cause the stickers take more space to display the same information. I hope this problem can be fixed. :D
Thanks for your hard working! :D
I’m thankful
-
Gotcha. Yeah - this is a problem we'll try to look at for the next update. We're eager to get the multilanguage support out there - and we'll keep refining it. -
Inappropriate?Hello,
Still have problem of restart after hibenation with 3018.
Always some untraducted sentences in the settings : about.
thanks -
Inappropriate?Oh my god. This update wrecked everything I had. I made a desktop full of customized icons, piles and certain things for my taste. Applied this patch, all gone. Everything. So I did everything back to how it was, and IT RESET THEM AGAIN upon restarting bumptop. This can't be true. Every time I restart bumptop now everything is defaulted. Icons, everything. Where is the old version and why my settings are gone?
I’m Pissed
-
My apologies Niconalle! We're looking into this at the moment and will get back to you as soon as we know what's going on. -
Inappropriate?Build 3018 has been pulled from our main update servers.
You can download the previous, unaffected build 2861 here:
http://download.cnet.com/BumpTop/3000... -
Inappropriate?Everything is back to the way it was again...with this old build and it seems to work. Be careful when releasing new versions. Brilliant app.
I’m recovering
-
Can you send us an email at feedback@bumptop.com? We'd like to send you an updated file to see if it corrects the problem you saw. -
Inappropriate? After a couple re-installs, Bumptop shows on the taskbar like above.
I am running Win 7 rc1 and I do use an n-trig device. I don't think that the touch device matters for anything in this version.
It wasn't there when I upgraded to Win7, it took an update and an install to show up. Hmmmm. Maybe a Desktop layer issue? or a rights issue. I can't tell any further from here.
