Virtual reality desktop for bumptop
Usually when I am working at my desk my desk is the last place I want to be. So here are a few suggestions on making Bumptop a more inviting and fun place to be. First of all I really like the idea behind Bumptop that a 3d desktop is more usable and more fun than a 2d desktop. However, since I spend most of my time in Programs rather than on my desktop I rarely get to enjoy using Bumptop.
So my suggestion is this: extend bumtop from a desktop to an entire user interface. I have that explained in a few points here.
1. Stunning Background pictures (i.e. mountains, lakes, forests) and immediate area animations (i.e. grass, insects) could be combined to create a very detailed visual computer experience that will make you happy when you use it.
2. You would have an area of about ten feet with objects in it such as a desk, a TV/Home theater system, a bookshelf and you could switch between these objects in a way like you switch between different positions in some video games.
3. On the desk you would have the regular bumtop interface with only one wall and the rest would just be background. On the desk you would also have a computer screen (for using applications) that would take up the entire screen when used.
4. The Home theater of course would be for watching movies, listening to music and looking at pictures. The bookshelf would be for reading books.
5. You could have other furniture as well such as lamps and chairs.
6. I don't believe this would be very processor intensive except for when you are changing positions.
7. This would of course have to easily support user ad-dons for things like custom furniture.
8. You could also have a trash can for throwing things in you don't want.
These things I believe would combine to create a much richer user experience.
This other suggestion might be to expensive but here it is. Perhaps you could get high definition videos from a series of different places and use them to make different, very detailed themes for bumptop. Since this wouldn't be an animation it would probably use less computer resources.
Thanks
