accented characters mess up tags
I've noticed this particularly with the iPhone interface. When I input an accented character, the tag gets chopped off right after the accent. I'm a French speaker, and this is very annoying for me.
I've noticed this elsewhere on the site but I can't remember where exactly (maybe in transfer rules). I've also had descriptions get chopped off when containing accented characters.
There's probably some encoding problem somewhere in your code ;-)

Inappropriate?I also have this problem when importing from a .qif file exported from MS Money 2006.
I'm Spanish and my accounts have accented characters and spaces, so Money escapes these words in tags with square brackets. However Buxfer imports the whole word with brackets and, if it encounters an accented letter, it cuts the word before that letter.
For example: this is a record of a transfer:
D23/09'2006
CX
MMetálico desde Cajero
T-140.00
PMetálico
L[Metálico]
^
The destination account is named "Metálico", but Buxfer creates a tag "[Met" for each transfer to that account (I got 10 or 20 tags "[Met" after the import). If the account were "ING Cuenta Naranja", the tag would be imported as "[ING Cuenta Naranja]" instead of "ING Cuenta Naranja" (only one tag this time, because it had no accented characters, ).
Accented characters and spaces in all other fields, apparently, are imported right.
