Charter Communications is the only high speed Internet service available in our area. They have horrible customer service, and the Internet goes down at least once or twice a month. No credit to our bill, either. Call for customer service, and you'll get disconnected, the agents don't even know there's an outage in the area, and they leave you on hold for hours. Charter doesn't care about their customers, and it shows!!!

I live in St. Louis and have the Basic Extended Cable package and there are about 5 channels that come in really poorly if at all. It wouldn't be so bad, but, one of them is the Guide channel which is really irritating. I really don't want to go to Digital Cable since that would mean putting a box on every TV. The TV in our bedroom is mounted on a wall with nothing nearby on which to place a converter box. I'm about ready to ditch them and put a digital antenna on my roof and rewire the inside cabling to use it.

Charter Communications continues to claim I never returned their equipment a year later.. despite the fact that I have a work order signed by one of THEIR employees that verifies that I have! I have sent it to them via fax, but I remain in collections for a cable modem and cable box for over $700.00!!

And there seems to be no one at Charter who can communicate in the English language well enough to resolve this situation!

I have had a Charter account at 3 different addresses. I am currently up to date on my payments, yet, today, I received a letter from a collection agency stating that Charter has sold my account to them and that I owe $57.42. Upon calling customer service, I was told that this is an outstanding debt from over TWO YEARS ago! Each time I have moved and transferred my services, I have told the teller at the local branch that I wanted to go ahead and pay whatever I owe before closing out that account. I have been late on payments here and there, but always pay what I owe, and am current with them right now. Customer service says that the account has been sold to the collection agency and that they cannot help me with it. I am left with no choice but to contact the collection agency to dispute this debt. I can not believe that Charter would risk losing a customer who pays them over $140 a month for services over an obviously bunk $57.42 "debt". If I cannot get satisfaction soon, I will be canceling all of my Charter accounts, and reporting this to every consumer activism Website I can, as well as the Better Business Bureau.

We get at least 3 calls/week from Charter trying to get us to switch from Digital Cable + HD + 16Mbit Internet to a plan with Charter Telephone. My mother is the one who gets the calls. They have been getting increasingly nasty with her and when she answer's the phone she pleads with the rep to tell her whether they are offering anything without phone. The reps just keep going as if she never said anything and continue on with their spiel about adding Charter Telephone.

Well today was the last straw. She got a call, as soon as they told her it was charter, she told the rep that if they didn't have an offer without charter telephone that she would hang up and the rep told her that "if she didn't switch to charter telephone her bill would go up" just like that. I understand that Charter keeps people on 6 month promotions but the fact of the matter is, to sign someone to a 6 month promotion and then bully them into adding a service that they don't want or need under the threat of a price hike is extortion. Needless to say, I got the "we're switching to a dish" line today and this time - she's serious.

We use Charter for our Internet connection at work (ie. have a complex, expensive account) and I just spent *four days* trying to get Charter to work with me to get a new domain name pointed at our in-house servers. After two techs, three phone calls, and five emails, I gave up, and just went around them. I paid $10 for additional DNS services at my registrar, pointed the name, and five minutes later, I was done. Why did Charter make it so hard? It's just ridiculous.

Our internet service has been down for three days. We call daily to check on it and all they will tell us is that they are sorry it is out, that it will be out for more than 2 hours and we are welcome to call back in two hours for an update. That's it. Don't have a clue what is wrong or what they are doing (beyond "technicians have been dispatched) and if we are talking hours, days or weeks.

Charter Communications is unsat... They get a F in cust. service.... and to add to it all they TAKE JOBS FROM THE U S, AND EMPLOY PEOPLE IN THRID WORLD COUNTRIES..... I call for cust. service and did not under stand a word comming out of the service tech.'s mouth. More than at least 20 times. I finally asked, " What country are you in?", they replied The PHILLIPIENS... I know 20 able American people who need JOBS.!

No service. Request turned in approximately 2 years ago to local office for extension of service to include approximately 100 homes. (Services stops approximately 1.5 miles from my home). So please explain why it would not be beneficial for Charter to extend service this distance when there are approximately 100 homes (potentially Charter would make money, not lose any if only one service was requested by each home). I would love the opportunity to have cable TV as well as internet.

Any help with this matter would be greatly appreciated.
