New layout complaint
I am very disappointed with the continued squeezing and combining of the tribune sections. I just received an email regarding changes being made to the Sunday paper. My wife and I receive the Trib 7 days a week, but due to the changes made to the Saturday paper (combining sections into one) it has become difficult for us to both read pieces of the paper individually. The separate sections has always been one of the primary reasons I prefer the Trib to the Sun Times, and while we wont be switching papers we am now seriously considering canceling our subscription altogether.

Inappropriate? When the Tribune launched its major redesign last fall, the paper was long overdue for some major renovation. Unfortunately, that happened at about the same time the economy went to pot. That forced even more dramatic changes, and then ensuing economic factors later led to some other difficult decisions about how to best use money and staff in both coverage and news space.

Inappropriate?I HATE the new layout. I subscribe 7 days a week, and this morning I thought that someone had left the SunTimes in my driveway. I participate in your survey program, and all that stuff, asking about if I had seen that ad and how I felt. I wish you would have surveyed about this change. One of the reasons I liked the Trib was because I viewed it as a step above the SunTimes. And now, I feel as though you have joined them. I especially hate it when you include ads on the front page. It is as though you have sold out.

Inappropriate?I do not like the size change on the TV Guide, what was wrong with the previous size? Secondly, why change from issuing the guide on Sunday to Saturday? Lastly, the sports I enjoy involve the outdoors, hunting, fishing, skeet shooting.
I feel that the quality and the depth of the articles has declined, I have a difficult time with the food section on Wednesday's. This common person does not understand why reciepts cannot be for comfort food, at least occasionally.

Inappropriate?I am also in agreement with the posts on the topic of your new format. I have been a residential subscriber of yours since 1999 (getting the paper seven days a week), and was shocked to receive my paper yesterday, only to find some "mini" Chicago Tribune in my hands after taking the plastic off the newspaper. Call me old-school, but I don't want my Tribune format to look like the inferior Sun-Times. I get two local newspapers here in the Naperville area for free, and they don't look much different than what I received from you yesterday. Then today, my Trib is back to its normal (traditional) size and format. What the heck is going on over there? What is it going to be, the old or new format in the future??
I realize the daily newspaper is becoming obsolete in some people's minds, and between your ongoing subscriber losses, and dramatically lower advertising revenues, the future is probably grim for you folks. But, you don't help your cause with changes like this thrust upon unsuspecting subscribers.
What a disheartening disruption to one of the few simple pleasures I have left in life.... To now have to wonder if the newspaper I have read (in one city or another) since I was a kid, is going to change in the most fundamental way, is depressing to me.
Change is NOT always good, and the format of your newspaper is an example of that.
