The Trib is looking for an easy way out to avoid customer service
Can you tell me how a community-powered page will cure a design problem? Are you opening the page files for fixes from the general public?

Inappropriate?Hello JR: As we make tweaks to the redesign, we take every reader's suggestion into consideration. Are there specific fixes you'd like us to make?
Please let me know and I'll work with our designers to get a resolution. Thanks for your feedback. -
Inappropriate? What's going on is we are basically beta-testing or pointing out the bugs in the redesign for the Tribune. This step is usually done on a small scale, out of view of the general public, by volunteers or paid staff. People like us are participating out of some sense of import be it imagined or not. It would be nice to hear a "thank you" when we help get rid of an important bug, though, wouldn't it?
The newspaper industry is truly messed up at the moment, and what's happening here could make a difference if readers/community members were recognized not just as consumers of news and information but as contributors as well. From what I've seen so far, though, that isn't happening, and probably won't. Too bad.
I’m disappointed.

Inappropriate?I agree. Who am I sending my technical feedback/complaint to - another user/viewer? How lame is that? My first and lasting impression is that the Trib companies are attempting to shift service responsibilities to users. Further, my intent with my user experience feedback was to send a PRIVATE note to the Trib. I suppose the Trib prefers that my expaerience be made public. So be it.

Inappropriate?Kevin,
If you have a comment or complaint that you don't want to post on a public forum, one place you can send it to is readerhelp@tribune.com
Thanks,
Jenna
Reader Help Desk -
Jenna, Thank you for the post. I suggest you share your guidance with the website designers. At the "Contact Us" page > "Report a Problem", there is no such option or choice to send a private note reporting a performance or UI problem. Instead, a reader (like me) finds it necessary to register with GetSatisfaction to post a comment. BTW, while you are corresponding with the website designers/admin, please mention that recently the site (Tribune) has become so slow that it is unreadable (i.e., responsiveness is extremely low) whereas this page (GetSatisfaction) speeds along like most of other websites.
