Custom Domain Name
Allow users to use a custom domain name for chi.mp (by changing their A-name record) as well as use .mp domain name... Or is there a way to already do this?

This has now been implemented with our latest release. I've already set up http://chimp.anthonyeden.com/ to go my chi.mp site. Feel free to give it a spin. If you have any questions post them here. Thanks everyone!
I’m stoked

Inappropriate? The next release will allow you to alias another domain to your chi.mp site. Thanks for the suggestion.
I’m happy

Inappropriate? Thanks for incorporating this into the next release. I have a couple questions about it. If you haven't answered these questions yet, don't worry:
1. Will it be a free feature or is there going to be a paid version of chi.mp
2. Will it allow for subdomains? i.e., blog.mydomainname.com
3. When is the next version of chi.mp going to come out?
I’m Excited
-
1.) It will be free.
2.) You can point any domain that you like though, so second-level, third-level, etc. are fine. It will only be usable as an alias to the site though, not as an alias to particular subsections of the site.
3.) We're aiming for middle of next week barring any delays.
When we roll it out it'll be good to have people testing it, so if you do end up using it please let us know what you think. -
That's great to hear. You can be sure that I will be testing it out, and that I will provide feedback... Do you prefer support via here or Twitter? -
Definitely post comments here, otherwise they run the risk of being overlooked. Thanks! -
Inappropriate? This is an A+ functionality. I'm pumped up... couldn't wait for next week ;)

Inappropriate?I think C-Name is much flexible then A-Name....
-
Ultimately you can use either, however a CNAME is preferred because we actually have multiple IP addresses for chi.mp and will continue to add more as needed to support growing demand. -
That's very good..According to my expereance,in CNAME mostly the server name we point is rarly chang and in AName there are possiblities to change IP addresses sometime in future, at that time user may need to do change so using a CNAME is the safest and fastest option. -

Inappropriate?Thanks Anthony and chi.mp team...
-
Inappropriate?How can we use it?
-
Inappropriate?Log in, go to Settings -> Domain Aliases and add the name you want to alias. For example, I added chimp.anthonyeden.com here. Then you go to your DNS provider and enter the CNAME record pointing the alias to your site. My CNAME record maps chimp.anthonyeden.com to anthony.mp.
I hope this helps and thanks again for the feedback. -
Inappropriate?Thanks for help, Got it...
