audio/isight video issues
Hi, I'm having trouble, I don't get any audio or isight video. :(
not even the isight preview on the sessions page. isight seems to work in over apps, just not in silverback. any ideas as to what i'm doing wrong?

Inappropriate?When you create a new Silverback session, do you see a preview in the preview screen, or do you get absolutely nothing. Have you checked the Silverback preferences to make sure that video capture is turned on?
Do you have any other apps open that use iSight video e.g. Skype, iChat etc. Only one app can have control over the video stream at any one time, so it may be that another application has control at the moment.
Are you using the built in iSight, an external iSight or another webcam? -

nothing, just the dotted silhouette.

yep, it's on.

Nope, have rebooted then only had silverback running, no joy. :(

inbuilt, macbookpro.
- thanks again for responding, I really don't have a clue what it could be, isight actually works ok in ichat, so it's probably not a hardware issue, and I'm pretty sure no other app has control of it. cheers. rick. -

If you can send me the following we'll try to get to the bottom of this problem
1. Open up your system profiler and send me your hardware overview.
2. Click on the USB option and send over your Built-in iSight details
3. Send me a screenshot of your Silverback Capture and Export preferences
4. Run a quick 30 sec test (does the green light go on at all)?
5. Does the session folder in library>app support>silverback... contain a .mov file? If so, does it play
5. Zip up and send me the project/session folder
6. Try exporting the movie and zip that up and send it over
7. Send over the Silverback logs -

-no iSight video, even in preview ; the green light doesnot go on at all (not even for a second)
-although iSight works with other apps (e.g. PhotoBooth)
-I rebooted and checked (correctly?) that no other app used the iSight camera
That's on a MacBook with the built-in iSight.
Upgrading to Silverback 1.1 did not help.
(I had ManyCam installed at some point on my MacBook, but uninstalled it since then).

Can I ask how long have you been using Silverback? Has it ever worked? If so when did the problem occur?
Would you be able to send me a system profile so we can look into this error. You can get this via the apple system profiler and send to to chris@clearleft.com.
Hopefully we will get to the bottom of this soon. I will keep you posted.

Inappropriate?The iSight video never worked for me (I first tried Silverback a few month ago, back when it was still a 1.0x version).

We have released an updated (Version 1.1.1) which includes a fix for this problem.
You can update the next time you launch Silverback or via the Silverback menu.
If you are still experiencing difficulties please let us know.

(since upgrading to 1.1.1 Silverback is very unstable : I'll check whether this has already been reported in another thread) -

I launch Silverback, new project, new session, record session, stop recording, click "new session" => crash.
If do the same after disabling "Capture iSight ..." in Pref. : no crash.
So I guess that this unstability may be related to my pb with iSight capture which doesn't work in the first place. -

Inappropriate?Chris solved my problem! (by private email).
It was caused by ManyCam. Although I had already uninstalled ManyCam (by dropping its App icon into the trashcan), there were still 2 ManyCam files in "/Library/QuickTime". Deleting anything which starts with "ManyCam..." from this folder solved the problem.
