Crash during capture Version 1.0.1 (89)
Hi I am using Version 1.0.1 (89) of Silverback on a G5 iMac (built in iSight) OS X 10.5.6 Build 9G55 and I am experiencing freezes that force me to restart the Mac (using the power button). This is during capture of a session vs export as has been reported by others here. It seems to occur randomly. I am using the 30day trial. I have been able to relatively short captures and exports with no problem (other than the video being tinted blue). Help?

Inappropriate?Sorry Rui, it seems the notification for this question got caught in our spam filters. While we do have a few instances of issues during export, this is the first one we've had during capture. Can you let me know how much RAM your machine has, how much RAM Silverback was using before it crashed and what other applications you had open.

Inappropriate?Hi Andy!
I was beginning to think you guys didn't like me or something ;)
friggin spam filters! Anyway. I have 1.5GB of Ram in the iMac. I couldn't tell you how much Ram Silverback was using ... is there a crash log I can send you (where would I find that?)? I was running Safari (Version 3.2.1 (5525.27.1)) - On one occasion it crashed right away ( the first time I tried to do a capture) then when I rebooted I tired it again and was able to do a short, maybe 30 second capture and export. Then I tried to do a longer session and it froze the iMac again after about ... 10 minutes or so? Each time the resulting files were useless and I had to trash them. The first time I ran Silverback (and it crashed when I started the capture) I was running Safari, Mail, and Silverback (maybe TextEdit or Preview as well) then last time it froze I was just running Safari (with only one window open) and Silverback. That time it ran for 10 min or so before it froze.
Sorry I couldn't be more specific ... but this was about 3 weeks ago ... and I'm lucky if I can remember yesterday ... now what was I doing ... oh yeh.
Thanks for the reply! Looking forward to getting this running reliably.
I’m acknowledged :o

Inappropriate? Thanks for the info Rui. We'll have a chat with our developers and pass this on. It may well be we need to come back to you and get hold of the log; they'll be in your Application Support folder. Will let you know.
Sorry for the problems, and we hope to get this all fixed as soon as possible. -
Inappropriate?Hi Rui,
Are these freezes happening on a regular/predictable basis or are they more random? It would be extremely helpful if you could send the crash reports over. You can find them Library > Logs > Crash Reporter.
To tell how much resources the app is using, if you could open up the terminal application and type the command "top" while the application is running, you'll be given a complete profile of your machine. If you could save the results and send those as well, that would help. My email address is andy@clearleft.com.
Video capture is actually quite memory intensive so my suspicion is that Silverback is running out of memory. However 1.5GB should be OK (what version of the OS are you using and what processor?) so we may need to tighten up the memory handling some more. -
Inappropriate?Hi Guys,
We've just pushed a new update that should help solve some of these bugs, so could you grab a copy and let me know how you get on?
I’m hopeful
