Exporting video takes a long time
I'm trying to export a video, and it's taking an extremely long time.
The video is 24 min, 25 sec long, and I used the export settings of Med/75%.
I've been exporting for 1.5 hours and it's ~1/3 done, which suggests that it will take upwards of 4.5 hours to finish.
It's also taking over all computer resources, and I can't get any other work done. I'm running a Macbook Pro 2.33 Ghz with 2 Gb RAM.
I'm running Silverback 1.0.0 on OS X 10.5.4.
Thanks!

Unfortunately video exporting is pretty processor intensive. We've done a lot of benchmarking and Silverback is faster than most other video and screen capture applications by around 30%. However it still takes a while to export so it's worth leaving it over night. You can only export one session at a time for now, but we'll be pushing a release soon that allows bulk overnight export.
To reduce the export time we recommend reducing your screen resolution during capture. Using the latest Mac hardware and software generally sees about a 30% increase in efficiency. Oh, and exporting is slightly faster on 'Best' quality as there is less compression going on.

Inappropriate? Thanks for the info, Andy. One of my assumptions as I was exporting video was that "Best" meant best quality video. Therefore, I assumed that it would take longer to export, and that the resulting video would be larger. Since I was trying to shorten the export (I merely need the video to show to folks, high res isn't so important) I chose a different setting, but from what you say it sounds like I may have actually made the export longer?

Inappropriate?Your assumption was correct that 'Best' refers to best quality. Ironically when I started using the app I also assumed a lower quality file would export faster. However while it comes out smaller, the extra compression required puts more strain on the cpu.

Inappropriate? You might be able to dramatically "improve" export speed if not the whole test sequence would be exported...
Try to imagine the speed improvements if only 10 sec before and one minute after a marker would be exported. All the rest of the test went o.k. and does not need to be exported because no one will get learnings of it. It’s the useless part of the video (IHMO) -
Interesting idea. Will definitely think about it.
