Failed exports, lots of disk space gone
I tried to export one of my sessions I did last week, but half way through the export it froze twice. When I check my disk space afterwards more then 15 Gbs have disappeared. Is there a way I can fix this? Any temporary files I can delete?
Thanks,
Ward

Inappropriate?Hey Ward,
If you open up Terminal and run this command it should clear your temp file and free up some space.
rm /var/tmp/*.mov
It looks like the garbage collection isn't working properly after certain crashes, so we've raised a ticket and will get this fixed in the next release. Thanks for bringing this to our attention.

Inappropriate?Hello Andy,
Thanks for the reply, I just ran the command and got 20Gb back.
Thanks!

Inappropriate? One more thing, I don't know if it can help or not, but the app froze several times when I was trying to export a longer session to my external USB 2.0 drive.
It gets its power from the usb port.
The sessions were longer then 2 hours.
I’m happy

Inappropriate?I tried to export a 3hrs session today, but the app froze right in the middle of the export. I want to send you the file, but the folder size of the session is 8.74 Gb... So I can't really send it to you.
Any idea on how I can solve this? Because I've got 3 other sessions that also fail to export. All longer then 1hr.
Thanks in advance,
Ward

Hi Ward, I know it's a bit old school, but do you think you could burn the whole project folder to disk and drop it in the post to us? That way we should be able to see exactly what's going on. Our address is Clearleft, Suite 3, 28 Kensington Gardens, Brighton, England, BN1 4AJ. Could you also send me the details of your set-up. So what hardware and software are you using, do you have anything unusual going on like two monitors, a ridiculously big monitor, or a non standard camera or mic? -
Thanks for the reply, I'll try and send a dvd with the failing sessions to you.

Thanks Ward, that's great. If you do manage to burn it to disk, let me know your PayPal details and we'll reimburse the postage for you. It's the least we can do :-) -
Inappropriate? Thanks Ward, would you mind doing me a quick favour?
Could you go to Library/Logs/CrashReporter/Silverback.crash.log, clear the log then start an export again. When it crashes, could you save the crash log and email it to me.
Thanks -
Inappropriate?Hi Guys,
we've just pushed a new update of Silverback (1.0.2) which should solve many of these issues. So it would be great if you could grab a copy of the update and let me know how you get on.
I’m happy
